Garston Ladies were defeated 1-0 by St Albans at the weekend as a late goal cost them a point.

Goalkeeper Jade Cook was left spectating in the first half as Garston pressed the opposition lines but failed to capitalise.

But deep into the second period Garston failed to shut up shop and were severely punished as a St Albans player breached their defence and got away. Cook got a hand to her effort but a second striker was on hand to score.

Chloe Percy thought she had levelled the scores before the death but the goal was disallowed as the referee had blown for an earlier foul.

The Ladies 96 side took away a point after drawing 6-6 away to Watton.

The purples found themselves 2-0 down before they upped their game as Leah Crocket fired home Garston’s first.

And it was not long before they levelled as Jade Roberts scored in the first minute of the second half.

After Watton once again took the lead, Roberts redressed the balance again before Watton went on to score their fourth.

Roberts got her hat-trick in the end as she scored from the penalty spot before her side once again went behind, only for Lilly Clark to make it 5-5.

It looked as though Garston would steal the points when Roberts netted her fourth to put her side ahead with less than five minutes remaining.

However, a hand ball decision gave their opponents a penalty in the dying seconds.

Garston Under-16s were unable to find the back of the net at Hayes and Yeading in a goalless draw.

Emily Downey hit the bar in the first half and thought she’d sealed the win but another effort was deemed offside.

Hayes had a number of good opportunities to open the scoring but were thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping by Fiona Kidd.
