Garston Ladies secured a 4-1 victory over Bishops Stortford despite a slow start.

Injuries meant a handful of changes were required and it took some time for the side to settle into the game but it was captain Gemma Curtis who opened the scoring with a finish from 20 yards.

Garston went 2-0 up when Kelly Kirwan’s cross was picked out by Bobbi Rhodes.

Jane Hales added her team’s third from close range after receiving a pass from Kirwan.

Linda Watt was replaced by Kelly Spencer after the break and the latter seized the opportunity to attack and scored Garston’s fourth goal from yet another Kirwan cross.

There wasn’t such good news for the 96 side who went down 2-0 to Flitwick through two soft goals.

Despite a battling effort to redress the balance, Garston were unable to find the back of the net.

In the youth games, there was a 4-0 defeat for the Under-16s against Hayes & Yeading.

The Under-15s were more successful, with a narrow 3-2 victory over Kings Langley in the League Cup thanks to a Amira Quraishy hat-trick.

The Under-14 Lionesses sailed through to the next round of the cup with a convincing 9-1 win over Herts Girls.

Claudia Bulow scored a hat-trick while Paige Andres bagged a brace along with Sharday Constable. There were also goals for Harley Carr and Issie Smith.

The Under-14s Tigers saw off Bedwell 4-0. A goal from Shreya Parmar was supplemented by efforts from Louise MacLennan, Yasmin-Rose Sheth and Charlotte Rice.

But it was a bad day at the office for the Under-13 Leopards as they lost 1-0 at Denham and the Jaguars were defeated 2-0 by Borehamwood.

The Under-12s fared better than their older counterparts with the Panthers beating Bedwell 3-0 in the League Cup and the Lions progressed to the next round of the cup following their 3-0 win over St Albans South.
