West Herts Hockey Club men secured three more points in their 6-1 win over struggling Indian Gymkhana in the NHL East Conference at the weekend.

The Stags produced the greater number of chances and were clinical with their finishes in the second half.

Herts opened their account with Dan Webster scoring from open play just after eight minutes.

Webster added a second from a penalty corner just before the half-hour mark to settle the home side’s nerves before the break.

Indian battled back after the interval after they were rewarded with a goal from a penalty corner from David Rae.

But this spurred Herts into action, scoring four more in the final 15 minutes.

The first of these goals secured Webster’s hat-trick as he executed a routine drag shot from a penalty corner.

This was followed two minutes later by Shae O’Sullivan scoring the first of his two.

His second came before Pete Corbridge capped the performance in the final minute by slotting home from close range.

The same delight was not shared by the ladies, who lost 3-0 to Hampstead & Westminster.

Despite being optimistic going into the match, having gained their first point of the season the previous week, the ladies were second best to a well-drilled H&W side.

The men’s Seconds were well beaten 6-1 by City of Peterborough Seconds.

They were made to pay for the lack of discipline which saw the team spend 14 minutes of the game with only 10 men.
