Watford Harrier Julian Critchlow won a third home international cross country race at the weekend.
Having won both the British Masters Cross Country and 10-mile road race earlier in the year, Critchlow is lined up as one of the favourites in Glasgow.
During the race England team mate Bob Atkinson took the lead with Critchlow close behind Scotland’s Neil Thin and Ireland’s Tommy Payne.
After the third lap out of four in the hilly section, the England man started to pull clear of his rivals and closed the gap on his team mate.
After moving past Atkinson, Critchlow kept a steady gap to maintain the lead with Ireland’s Mick Byrne pipping Thin for second place. Critchlow’s effort was enough to help England recapture the team title from Ireland.
Closer to home, there were wins for Connor Keogh, Ben Hunter and Angela Trussler in the Chiltern Cross County League.
Critchlow, who now coaches at the Harries said: “I am delighted with the progress the club is now making.”
