Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round Three

North Watford and Fox & Hounds joined the league’s three other sides already through to the last 16 of the Intermediate County Cup after they both enjoyed good wins on Sunday.

North Watford defeated Bradmore Rovers from the Welwyn & Hatfield Sunday League 3-2 following a hard-fought game.

The home side were awarded and converted two penalties in the first half-an-hour from Aamer Khan and Mansoor Ali, but Rhys Monger headed Bradmore back into the game before half-time.

North Watford had a dream start to the second period when Khan slotted home from close range but Bradmore, who only had the bare 11 men, refused to give in and reduced the arrears with 20 minutes remaining through Mark Freestone.

Despite some heavy Rovers pressure, North Watford held on and now face another home tie on December 11 against Six Bells.

It was a far more straightforward morning for Fox & Hounds as they easily beat the Snug Bar 6-0.

Alex Witham scored a hat-trick with Josh Noyes notching a double and Joshua Taylor a single.

Fox’s opponents in the fourth round could be fellow WSL side Evergreen if they get through their tie against Stotfold Lions in the second round this Sunday and a potential third round trip to Karlson.

Herts Sunday Senior Cup Round Three

Oakview are into the last eight after they beat Wanderers 3-1 with goals from Adam Lowton, Spencer Bellotti and Tom Kennedy.

Both Rifle Volunteer and Reed Rangers’ cup hopes are over.

Rifle suffered a 6-3 extra-time defeat to Nicholas Breakspear Old Boys after a 3-3 draw at the end of 90 minutes.

Volunteer went behind early on to a penalty before Ben Tomlinson scored twice to put them ahead, only for injuries to leave them with ten players on the field, plus two others playing on when injured. But that didn’t seem to matter when player-manager Gary Foy scored a superb solo goal to put his side 3-1 up.

Rifle looked to be holding out for a heroic win in the second half, but the home side scored twice in as many minutes to take the tie into the additional half-an-hour.

The extra legs finally told in extra-time as Breakspear scored three times in the final 15 minutes.

Reed Rangers also went of the competition after suffering a 5-1 defeat to Hertford Stags.

Reed went behind after ten minutes with the away side converting a penalty, but Nathan Singh soon levelled with a lobbed effort.

The outcome of the game was effectively decided after 20 minutes when Reed had Chris Blunden sent off and in the second half Stags made the extra man count as they scored four unanswered goals.

Division One

Old Danes beat Colne Valley 9-1 on a morning to forget for the previously unbeaten side in the league.

Valley did not help themselves by scoring an own goal in each half and while Dave Rooney registered their sole reward with 15 minutes remaining, by then the outcome of the game was in no doubt.

Along with the two own goals, Old Danes secured the resounding win through a Josh Burks hat-trick, a Lewis Chappell double and singles from Chris White and Will Keedy.

Danes’ victory means they remain in second place and this Sunday take on leaders and unbeaten West Herts after they saw off RD FC 3-1.

The Stags had to battle back from a goal down as RD went ahead five minutes before the break when Adam De Swarte tapped in from close range.

It was a different story in the second half as West Herts levelled from a Chris Coleman penalty which saw a RD defender sent off for a deliberate hand ball on the goalline.

Coleman then turned provider for new signing Sam Read, who brought down the ball and turned and fired home, before Ashley Bridewell completed the scoring with 10 minutes to go.

Croxley convincingly won their derby clash against Croxley Community Centre 7-1.

Chris Monas led the way with a hat-trick, Leroy Odle added two more and Jade Redilson and Chris Eldridge netted the others. Billy Wilson scored the Community Centre’s goal.

Division Two

Evergreen beat Bricketwood Social 6-0 and are the new leaders of the division.

Matt Goodchild headed Evergreen ahead early on but that was all they had to shown for a strong first-half performance.

But the victors went on to convert the chances they created after the interval and goals from Conor Townsend, Ant Benvenga, Chris Wilcox, Dan Verbena and another from Goodchild sealed the win.

Rifle Volunteer Reserves defeated Bedmond 2-0 thanks to a brace from Dan Bourne.

Rickmansworth Athletic and Compasses North drew 1-1, Steven Quarrington and Gavin Rajenderen the scorers.

Sun regained the lead almost immediately with Adam Bungon on target, only for Crawford to add his second of the game to bring the teams level again. But it was Sun’s Martin Jamieson who scored the winner with five minutes left.
