President’s Cup Round Two

The new-look competition for the league’s two top divisions had come in for some criticism from some clubs with concerns that no first division team would be able to defeat top-flight opposition, although this has not proved to be the case.

The last eight will be made out of an even split of teams - four from each division - after first division AFC Oddfellows knocked out Premier Division Rifle Volunteer 5-0.

Chris Kepple was the star man for Oddfellows as he struck a hat-trick, with Connor Flanagan and an own goal rounding off the scoring.

Premier Division

Reed Rangers are back in the title hunt after a 4-2 win over Chorleywood Club leap-frogged them over their opponents and into third place in the table.

Reed had to do it the hard way, coming from 2-0 down after James Edwards and Aaron Whittingham scored for the home side, but the game changed in the last minute of the first half when David Baxter pulled one back for Rangers.

George Hobson equalised ten minutes into the second half with a long-range effort, Nathan Singh then scored to put Reed ahead for the first time before substitute Callum Challenor completed the scoring and the comeback.

Oakview are now level on points with leaders Rickmansworth Town, behind on goal difference and with two games in hand, after a narrow 2-1 home win over Old Fullerians.

Owen Deamer and Daryl Brown scored for Oakview, with Charlie Munroe replying.

Division One

The clash of the top two saw Old Danes Athletic inflict a first defeat of the season on West Herts 3-0 and take over the leadership of the table by virtue of a superior goal difference of plus eight.

Jordan Woodcock, Craig Bennett and Josh Burks scored the goals that ended the Stags’ unbeaten start to the campaign.

The division’s two most entertaining teams in terms of the number of goals scored and conceded produced a further eight goals as Colne Valley bounced back from their previous week’s 9-1 home defeat to beat North Watford 5-3.

Andy McKenzie-Bell was Valley’s man on form, scoring four times, although it was Dave Rooney who put Colne ahead early on. North Watford equalised through Daniel Moss before McKenzie-Bell scored the first of his quartet, bundling the ball home from close range.

North Watford drew level for a second time before the break through Tyrone Young, but Valley started the second period with two quick-fire goals from McKenzie-Bell.

The first came two minutes into the half from a cross and his second a minute later was converted from the penalty spot after Jack Habbijam had been brought down.

North Watford pulled one back with 25 minutes to go through Shoaib Ali, but Bell restored Valley's two-goal cushion with his fourth of the game 16 minutes from time.

Intermediate Cup Round Two

The competition for divisions Two and Three produced 33 goals across the six ties, an average of five-and-a-half per game.

The all-third division tie between Woodlands United and Green Dragon needed penalties to decide the winner following a 3-3 draw after extra-time.

Christian Casey, Bez Rrema and Klevis Dervishi’s goals for Woodlands were not enough, as they went on to suffer heartbreak in the shoot-out, losing 9-8.

Oxhey Rangers, who are still without a win in Division Three, enjoyed an 8-1 triumph over Bricketwood Social.

Charlie Fordham scored a hat-trick with two goaLS each for Dan Pippin and Conor Murphy and one from Steve Bunting.

Two third division teams put out second division opposition, with Division Three leaders Ripstone beating Rifle Volunteer Reserves 5-2.

Tom Courtney and Red O'Donoghue both scored braces, with one from Matt Elgey. Jake Woolhead and an own goal replied for Rifle.

Fox and Hounds defeated Cassiobury Rangers 2-1 thanks to two goals from Josh Noyes, while Jack Henley got the Rangers consolation.

Bedmond’s inconsistent form continued with a 3-2 home defeat to Tudor Athletic, as two goals from Jordan Davies were not enough to see off their opponents for whom Gary Wicks scored twice and Dean Renphrey once.

Langleybury Cricket Club edged out Bell Rangers 2-1 through efforts from Jamie Madden and Robbie Edgar. James Alexander was on target for Bell.

Division Three

An Aaron Crawford hat-trick was not enough for Meriden as they lost out 5-4 to Hertsmere.

Ben Dunton netted the other goal for Meriden, who were made to pay for some poor defending as they conceded two penalties.

Mitch Knight and Charlie Watts both scored twice for the home side, but it was a James Skipsey effort that ensured the three points.

Revolution cruised to a 6-1 home win over Sun Postal Sports.

Callum Hearn led the way with two, supported by singles from Paul Shelock, Andrew Owusu, Kyle Maundrell and Chris Massey. Jerome Driscoll struck Sun’s consolation.

Junior Cup Round Two

P&P Social did it the hard way against AFC Batchworth, losing a two-goal lead before netting a last-minute winner to progress 3-2.

Reece Davis, Jimmy Talbot and Shane Slinger were on target with the P&P goals, with Dylan Cooke and Bradley Foot scoring for Batchworth.

The all-Division Four clash between Ardent and AFC Green Machine saw Machine win thanks to two goals in the last 13 minutes after they finally broke down the opposition’s ten men.

Ardent had to play most of the game a player light due to injury and they finally succumbed to a deflected shot from Josh Burtt and a Charlie Fowler penalty six minutes from time put the game beyond them.

A Tom Pegrum goal was enough for fifth division AC Little Silhouette of Milan to beat Roundbush from the tier above 1-0.

Division Four

It was a good morning for the three sides hoping to chase down leaders Ardent as they all racked up high-scoring wins.

Second-placed AFC Woodside defeated Inter 7-2 through a Steven Stratford hat-trick and one each for Drew Snailham, John Croft, Joe McCarthy and Joe Fox. Raz Dazijba and Chris Stead responded for Inter.

Greg Springall scored four times for Hertfordshire Lions as they beat Woodlands Laurels 6-1, with Louis McNamara netting a penalty and Sam Crafts also on the scoresheet.

The Woodlands goal from Liam Laverick came with his team already six goals down.

Bushey Rangers, who started the season slowly, are now getting into their stride and registered a fourth straight league win, this time 5-2 against Railway Arms.

George Davies struck three times and Lewis Yates and Sam Pearce were also on target for Rangers, with Adam Williams and Aaron Morley replying.

Division Five

One has to feel a certain amount of sympathy for Batchworth as they suffered an 18-1 defeat to The Tree.

Robbed of many of their normal starting XI by Watford FC's game starting at midday including their regular goalkeeper, Batchworth fielded a scratch side which actually held out for half-an-hour before the floodgates opened.

Andy Pryor scored five, Glenn O'Malley four, Adam Cadmore three, Rob Mair two and there was one each for Kyle Pater, Craig Horwood, Dean Brownsell and Marc Brownsell.

Batchworth never gave up though, and scored through Kinal Patel but they were already 17-0 down by that point.

Herts Senior Cup Round Three

St Joseph’s game with AFC Boars was abandoned after 55 minutes due to a serious injury and will be replayed this Sunday.

Herts Intermediate Cup Round Two

Evergreen are through to the third round after Stotfold Lions were unable to raise a team.

Evergreen now face Karlson on December 11 for the right to take on fellow WSL side Fox and Hounds in Round Four.

The league has confirmed that Compasses have resigned and that West Watford have been expelled.

A statement regarding West Watford read: "Since joining the league in 2012, the club had been warned several times regarding their on pitch behaviour and continual late kick-offs. They also failed to reach the required standard required by the league in terms of suspensions by Herts FA for late fine payments, late payments of league fines, and failure to confirm fixtures with opposition and referees.

“On Thursday, November 10 the club met the league committee and were warned that the above issues had to improve and that if there were any further incidents they would be expelled from the league.

"Despite assurances given by club representatives, just three days later on November 13, they kicked off late v Old Danes Athletic, and then that game was abandoned because a West Watford player refused to leave the field of play after being sent off.

“These incidents left the league with no option but to remove them from the league. The league does not take these decisions likely but felt after numerous warnings, it had no other option".

Following these decisions, both teams’ records have been expunged.
