Rickmansworth School retained their Secondary School of the Year crown at the Herts Sports Partnership Service to Sport Awards last week.
The school pipped Ware’s Ralph Sadlier School and Harpenden’s Roundwood Park School to take the top spot.
They introduced the Youth Sport Trust Girls Active programme to work with young women who do not like taking part in PE.
One of the main reasons they were given the gong was the range of activities they offer to their pupils, including separate swimming sessions for their minority group students as well as lunchtime ‘This Girl Can’ clubs.
They also offer sporting events like the Real Madrid Tour and Wimbledon Finals Day as well as playing host to visits from runner Lesley Owusu.
Nominations were submitted for 116 schools, clubs and individuals who make a significant contribution to supporting sport in Hertfordshire.
The event was held in the Weston Auditorium at the University of Hertfordshire with Sky Sports commentator David Croft hosting.
