Leverstock Green ended 2016 with only a second draw of the season in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division as they fought back from 3-1 down to claim a point at Broxbourne Borough.

Broxbourne opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after a break down the right when Tobi Omotosho crossed for Yemi Buraimoh to finish from close range.

But Danilson Vicente managed to find an equaliser when he applied the decisive touch to level the scores ten minutes later.

The sides were still deadlocked at the break and Jonathan Lacey had a chance to put Green into the lead but was denied by Graham Loki.

Leverstock dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half but some poor decision making meant they did not create any chances.

The Green side then paid the price for not capitalising on those opportunities when Borough struck twice within five minutes.

Omotosho was allowed time on the edge of the box to work the ball into the corner of Mark Berg’s net before Robbie Carroll added a third.

But Green kept on pushing and got their rewards when Vicente and Lacey scored in the last 15 minutes to secure a 3-3 draw.

Tring Athletic defeated Berkhamsted 1-0 on Tuesday in their festive derby clash.

The first opportunity of the game fell to Athletic when Kieran Turner picked out former Comrade George Carbery but he could only head the ball towards the keeper.

Berko responded when Alex Campana cut inside and saw his firm shot deflected to Jack Hopwood before Dan Jones then struck a 35-yard free-kick but Hopwood easily collected.

The last chance of the first half fell to Lee Stobbs after Carbery made the break and the former’s curled shot forced Carl Tasker into a good save.

The Comrades started the second half on the front foot and Ashton Campbell missed a great opportunity to put his side ahead when he shot wide of the post from six yards.

Tring’s Lee Stobbs tried his luck with a long-range effort but this went well wide before another effort nestled safely into the keeper’s midriff.

Both sides started running out of steam, failing to test the two keepers, but with the game looking like it would end a goalless draw up stepped 18-year-old Ben Seaton. His 25-yard shot squeezed its way under Tasker for a late dramatic winner.
