Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round Four

Fox and Hounds won the all-Watford Sunday League tie against Evergreen 4-1 to set up a quarter-final trip to Friendly FC on February 5.

Bradley Thompson struck a brace with the other goals coming from Josh Noyes and Ciaran Walsh. Ant Benvenga scored the Evergreen reply.

Herts Sunday Senior Cup Round Three

St Josephs’ interest in this season’s Senior Cup was ended by AFC Boars.

Lawrence Olorunfemi and Lewis Cox were on target for the home side in their 3-2 defeat.

Herts Sunday Junior Cup Round Four

The league’s last representatives in the County Junior Cup, AFC Green Machine, suffered a 5-0 away defeat at Sawbridgeworth Brewery.

WSL Ken Simmons Cup Round One

The league’s new competition for those teams knocked out in the first round of the Challenge Cup started with an upset as fifth division P&P Social beat first division RD FC 5-3.

Louie Lobjoit with two, Reece Davis, Billy Lobjoit and Shane Slinger were on target for P&P, with Elliot Myrants-Wilson’s brace and a Dan Parkes effort not enough for the home side.

First division Colne Valley gave a good account of themselves before they went down 5-3 to Premier Division Met Police Bushey.

Valley went behind early on to a Dan Branch effort before equalising through player-manager Lawrence Anscomb's headed goal on the half-an-hour mark, but Met Police regained the lead before the break thanks to Dale Jenkins.

Valley then found themselves 4-1 down early in the second half as Ashley Shanahan and Rob Gladwell looked to have put the tie beyond their opponents. But Joe Murphy nodded in Colne’s second on the hour and Anscomb got his second five minutes later as they mounted a fight back. However, they were caught on the counter-attack late on pushing for the equaliser as Dave Wilmott scored Met’s fifth.

First division Croxley beat fourth division Inter 6-2 thanks to Rhida Zekri’s four-goal blast and Carl Pettitt and Thomas Hughes also finding the net. Ilic Aposto replied with both of Inter’s goals.

Two own goals helped third division Revolution knock out fourth division Woodlands Laurels 5-3 in a game with saw the ball put into the wrong net three times in total.

David Marcyniuk, Callum Hearn, Paul Shelock scored the other Revolution goals with Rob Hales and Liam Laverick netting for their opponents.

The other Woodlands team, United, also suffered a defeat, losing 4-2 to Oxhey Rangers.

Chrishan Casey and Ricky Fletcher got the home team’s goals but Rangers went through thanks to Charlie Fordham’s brace and efforts from Rob Duncan and Michael Gilman.

The remaining two games ties in big home wins as Rifle Volunteer Reserves beat Railway Arms 8-1 through a Paul Souse hat-trick, Matt Glossop’s double and singles from Dan Bourne, Stuart Lascelles and an own goal. Shaun Marshall got the Railway consolation.

The other reserve team in the competition did not have a good morning as Green Dragon Reserves suffered a 6-0 defeat to Rickmansworth Athletic.

Jamie Exley and Scott Reeves scored two each and Shane Kitts and Connor Haynes one apiece.

Premier Division

The destiny of the Premier Division title looks to be firmly in the hands of reigning champions and current leaders Oakview after they easily beat second-placed Rickmansworth Town 6-1.

Oakview’s win over their nearest challengers means they have opened up a six-point lead and with the additional advantage of a game in hand.

Lee Armitt scored a hat-trick with Tom Kennedy, Owen Deamer and Tom Inch netting the others for the victors, as H. Brock netted Town’s sole reply.

Reed Rangers are in third place, seven points behind Oakview on the same number of games played as the leaders, after they beat Old Fullerians 3-1.

Karl Penny scored a double with one from George Hobson. Sam Parker responded for the visitors.

Mid-table Chorleywood Club and Rifle Volunteer shared the points following a 3-3 draw.

Two-goal Calum McCarroll and Ryan McMahon were on target for Chorleywood as Nick Kerley’s hat-trick secured Rifle’s point.

Division One

Only two games were played in the division and both unusually ended in 8-1 away wins.

Leaders Old Danes Athletic, whose title hopes are firmly in their own hands, beat AFC Oddfellows thanks to Chris White’s treble, a Will Keddy brace and Lewis Chappell, Josh Burkes and Jordan Woodcock singles. Chris Kepple was on target with Oddfellows’ sole reply.

North Watford’s emphatic win over Croxley Community Centre pushed them up to third place, although they are nine points behind second-placed West Herts.

Aamer Khan and Mansoor Ali both scored hat-tricks with Tyrone Young and Kamran Arshad also finding the back of the net, as did Jordan Mwasi for Croxley.

Division Two

Langleybury Cricket Club enjoyed a good start to 2017 with a thumping 11-2 victory over Bricketwood Social.

Matthew Honey scored a hat-trick, Garry Cook and Dan Bryon got two goals each and Richard Trafford, Dan Chitty, Harry Lock and Nathan Pooley were also among the goals.

Compasses North beat Cassiobury Rangers 2-1 as efforts from Leo Kokaj and Vilson Culaj outweighed Sam Mortimer’s goal.

Division Three

Both games in the fourth tier ended in high-scoring wins, 8-1 for leaders Tudor Athletic and 9-1 for third-placed Bell Rangers.

Tudor beat Hertsmere after Dave Herbert and Jack Robinson both scored hat-tricks and James Hocking and Tom Herbert weighed in with a goal each. Callum Spalding replied for Hertsmere.

Bell overpowered bottom-placed Sun Postal Sports through Joel Soper’s treble while Callum O'Connor, Louis Soper and Matt Owens all scored two each. Jerrome Driscoll replied for the home team.

Division Four

Hertfordshire Lions are now right in the title race after they easily beat Roundbush 8-1.

Carl Biggs opened the scoring after ten minutes when he converted a cross. Jamie Balmer doubled the advantage with a shot-come-cross which found its way into the top corner. Greg Springall made it three soon after and Biggs netted a fourth just before the half-time when he got on the end of a through ball.

Tom Carroll struck a hat-trick in the second half and Springall doubled his tally to make it eight before Roundbush got a goal back late on from Keith Smith.

The game between Ardent and FC Woodside was abandoned with the home side leading 4-2.

Division Five

Garston Rangers have a second point of the season thanks to a second 5-5 draw against Batchworth, but they will be kicking themselves on missing out on a first win after managing to let a 4-0 lead slip.

Rangers established their comfortable cushion in the first half, but two goals just before half-time for their opponents from Ben Chambers and Sam Hollis changed the game.

Batchworth completed the comeback after the break through a Jack Davey free-kick and Karl Jenkins, only for Garston to take the lead again.

But there were to be more late twists as Davey scored his second to level the game once more, and then with two minutes left Batchworth’s player-manager had a glorious chance to snatch the points for his team, but he saw his penalty saved.

Devante Austin scored a hat-trick for Garston with Charlie Kimpton and Alex Nottage also finding the net.

AC Little Silhouette of Milan shared the goals around as they beat William Morris 5-3.

Five different men found the target for the home side - Sam Haslam, Tom Pegrum, Jamie Palmer, Zach Crukshank and Joe Hitchins - with Jacob O'Hanlon converting a double for Morris and Liam Coles getting the other goal.
