The Watford Half Marathon saw a host of runners descend on Cassiobury Park to compete on the 13.1-mile course yesterday.

Hercules Wimbledon AC member Jonathan Cornish came out on top of the 1,672-strong field to finish first in a time of 1.08.40.

Kieran White (1.13.40) won the M40 category, while Nigel Rackham (1.16.32), Brian White (1.30.15) and John Owen (1.50.07) were victorious in the M50, M60 and M70 races respectively.

Meanwhile, Sarah Stradling was the fastest woman as she clocked a time of 1.21.11 to claim 47th spot in the overall standings.

Joanne Kent’s time of 1.23.58 gave her top spot in the W45 category and Lynda Hembury was quickest in the W55 race with a time of 1.37.13.

The W65 race was won by Yuko Gordon (1.39.12) and Angela Duncan, who was the sole entrant in the W75 category, finished the course in a time of 2.18.32.

Watford Harriers were represented by six competitors and Jay MacDonald was their top performer, finishing 83rd overall with a time of 1.24.13.

Robyn Delivett came in as Harriers’ highest placed woman in 587th overall as she completed the course in 1.43.50.
