Reed Rangers kept up their title hopes with a 3-1 win over St Josephs and in doing so effectively ended the ten-time champions’ hopes of claiming a first league crown for the first time since 2010.

Leaders Oakview still have a four-point lead at the top of table with a game in hand after they defeated Chorleywood Club 2-0 with goals from Tom Kennedy and Luke Beardsworth, but it was Reed’s win that keeps the title race alive.

Rangers were in charge from the start and Charlie Webster opened the scoring after 13 minutes, slotting home from close range at the back post.

The scorer’s day then turned sour as he had to be taken to hospital with an eye injury, but that did little to upset Reed and they soon doubled the lead when Chris Blunden added the second.

Rangers continued to have the better of the game but it wasn’t until 18 minutes from time they finally netted a third goal to put the game beyond doubt when Blunden scored his second in spectacular fashion with a scorpion kick which went in via for the crossbar.

St Josephs managed to grab a consolation with five minutes left when Lewis Cox slotted home a penalty.

There was a bit of a mis-match as First Division leaders West Herts hammered Division Five side William Morris 10-1.

Met Police Bushey edged past lower division opposition for the second round running, this time beating Third Division Revolution 4-2.

Two-goal Dale Jenkins and singles from Rob Gladwell and Dan Branch sealed the win over Revolution, who replied through David Marcyniuk and Greg Anscomb.

Division One

Third-placed North Watford beat Croxley 6-1 to keep up the pressure on the top two who were not in league action, although they still are nine points behind second-placed Old Danes.

There was an element of revenge for North Watford after they had suffered a 4-2 defeat to the same team back on the second Sunday of the season.

The game was effectively over by half-time after Tyrone Young scored once and Shoaib Ali netted a first-half hat-trick. The same two players added a goal each after the break, with Croxley getting one back with the final kick of the game from Carl Pettitt.

Colne Valley’s up and down season continued with a 6-2 win over second-bottom AFC Oddfellows, despite fielding only the bear 11 players.

The game started at a fast pace with four goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Jack Habbijam opened the scoring for Valley after seven minutes before the home side drew level two minutes later through Daniel Tearle. But the scores remained level for only a minute before Charlie Banning struck the first goal of his hat-trick, and then eight minutes later Dave Rooney broke the offside trap to race through and make it 3-1.

In the second half Valley added penalties from Tom Seamons and Banning, who completed his treble, with Daniel McDonagh adding a second for the home side with the game’s third spot-kick.

Division Two

Fox and Hounds made it ten league wins from as many games but they were given an almighty fight by mid-table Bedmond before edging through 3-2.

Two goals in the first half from Josh Noyes looked to have put the County Cup semi-finalists on the path to an easy win, but the game was not over as Bedmond pulled level through Tedi Prushi and Clement Asante.

But Noyes kept his side’s run going with the winning goal 18 minutes from time as he broke free to score past Bedmond keeper Dave Thorpe, who had made some important saves beforehand.

A late strike from Tommy Twelves was enough for Compasses North to beat Cassiobury Rangers and leapfrog over their opponents into fifth place in the table.

Division Three

Meriden enjoyed a third league win of the season after 6-0 victory over bottom-placed Sun Postal Sports.

Despite having most of the play in the first half, it took Meriden until just before half-time to finally make the breakthrough with Josh Shaw scoring.

The goals flowed more freely after the break as Ben Dunton got the second of the game and Aarron Crawford made it three soon after. The same two players then added a further goal each before George Ray completed the scoring.

Ripstone went top of the table after a 4-2 home win over Woodlands United.

Matt Elgey scored a double with Tom Courtney and Dan Churchman also finding the back of the net. Joe Ray and Chrishan Casey were on target for Woodlands.

Division Four

FC Woodside beat Bushey Rangers 4-2 thanks to a Joe Fox brace and one each from Glen Coniam and Nathan Gullin. Stephen King and David Smith replied for Bushey.
