Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals

The much-anticipated quarter-final between the league’s top two sides produced a 3-2 win for holders Oakview over Reed Rangers.

Owen Deamer struck twice for the victors with Luke Beardsworth netting the other goal. Chris Blunden and John Smith replied for Reed. The two sides will meet again in the semi-final of the President’s Cup.

Premier Division Rifle Volunteer also made it into the last four but not after being given a real fright by Fourth Division FC Woodside before edging through 3-2.

Ian Winter and Lewis Edwards were on target for the lower ranked side but their efforts were not enough to cause an upset as Rifle progressed thanks to a Nick Kerley brace and one from Dale Sears.

The draw for the semi-final sees Oakview face the winners of the Old Fullerians versus AFC Oddfellows tie, whilst Rifle will be up against Old Danes Athletic or AFC Green Machine.

Ken Simmons Cup Round One

It is now 15 straight wins for Fox & Hounds after they easily swept aside Chess United 9-0, the side bottom in Division Five.

Jordan Aston-Woods, Rob Duncan and Dan Pippin scored for the home side with Ben Davies and Calvin Monaghan getting the AC goals.

Junior Cup Quarter-Finals

Division Five P&P Social caused a major upset as they knocked out Fourth Division Hertfordshire Lions 6-1, who could only field ten players.

P&P scored twice early on with a third following before Greg Springal struck his 24th goal of the season to give his team at least some hope for the second half.

But any hope of a comeback was all but ended in the opening minutes of the second period with two further goals for the home side and they added a sixth before the end.

Billy Lobjoit’s hat-trick means he has 25 goals for P&P this season, as Aidan Thacker added a double and Shane Slinger netted the other.

An all-Fourth Division tie saw AFC Green Machine beat Bushey Rangers 3-1, partly thanks to two goals in the opening ten minutes from Danny Roberts.

The first came after a poor clearance went straight to Roberts and he doubled his tally with a tap-in after good work from Lee Puddephat.

Bushey pulled a goal back before the break from George Davies, but Dom Clarke sealed his team’s place in the last four when he converted a rebound after Roberts was denied his hat-trick.

Premier Division

Green Dragon came the closest they have all season to getting a first point when they suffered a narrow 2-1 home defeat to mid-table Old Fullerians.

Martin Stevens scored the Dragon goal but it was not enough to secure any reward as Charlie Hailey and Craig Totton netted for the away side.

St Josephs have a fourth league win of the season after beating the side directly below them in the table, Met Police Bushey, 2-1.

Lawrence Olorunfemi scored both of Joes’ goals while Rob Gradwell was on target for the Met.

Division One

Sunday could well be a defining moment in the First Division title race between West Herts and Old Danes Athletic.

West Herts, leaders going into the game, suffered a 2-0 defeat at Colne Valley after Luke Chapman scored the first after 11 minutes with a curled left-footed effort.

The second goal came in the second half from Krasi Makaveev, who tapped home after a goalmouth scramble.

Old Danes returned to the summit of the table after a narrow 1-0 home win over North Watford, with Will Keddy getting the winner 20 minutes from time.Old Danes are top by virtue of a better goal difference of plus 13, as well as having a game in hand.

Division Two

Compasses North are on a good run of form this year and that continued with a 4-3 win over Rickmansworth Athletic thanks to striker Leo Kokaj, who netted all four goals.

Ross McGuire got a brace for the away side and Jordan Allen netted the other.

Evergreen’s hopes of catching Fox & Hounds look all but over after they could only draw for a second week in succession, this time 1-1 against mid-table Cassiobury Rangers.

Frankie Henley scoring for Rangers and Ant Benvenga replied for Evergreen, who are now seven points behind the leaders.

Langleybury Cricket Club are two points ahead of Evergreen in second place after they beat Bedmond 3-1.

The cricketers had built up a 3-0 lead after an hour thanks to goals from Greg Cook, Ryan Lock and Jamie Madden before Ollie Brinton pulled one back.

Division Three

Both leaders Ripstone and second-placed Tudor Athletic gained vital wins.

Ripstone left it until late to beat Revolution 2-1 after Alex Hanson put the home side ahead in the first half. But two late goals from Ollie Brill secured the points, with his winner coming in the last minute.

Tudor were given a massive fight by bottom-placed Sun Postal Sports, who were clearly buoyed by a first league win seven days beforehand, before they triumphed 3-2 thanks to a Gary Wicks hat-trick. Martin Jamieson and James Airey struck for the Sun.

Woodlands United are up into fourth place following a 4-1 home win over Hertsmere.

Ricky Fletcher, Daryl Marshall, Adam Rawlings and Joe Ray were on target for the home side while Nathan Slinger got the Hertsmere reply.

Division Four

Both games in this division ended in 2-0 away wins.

Leaders Ardent claimed maximum points in the top-versus-bottom clash with Railway Arms through goals from Lee Spence and Glenn Rawlings.

The victory means Ardent now have an 11-point lead over FC Woodside, although they do have two games in hand.

Woodlands Laurels beat Inter by the same scoreline; Matt Chipchase and Dan Okoro finding the back of the net.

Division Five

The Tree dropped points for the first time this season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by second-placed AFC Batchworth.

Alex Simmonds scored The Tree goal and Joe Brown responded for the visitors, who are two points behind their opponents and have played a game more.
