Junior Cup Semi-Finals

It will be Division Four against Division Five in the final of the Junior Cup at Oxhey Jets on Sunday, March 26 after both FC Woodside and The Tree won through.

Woodside came out on top in the all-Division Four tie with AFC Green Machine 2-0, Drew Snailham and Joe Fox the men on target.

The Tree made light work of P&P Social in their all-Division Five encounter, winning 8-1. Adam Cadmore led the way with four, Andy Pryor notched a brace and Craig Brownsell and Glenn O'Malley added a goal each.

Intermediate Cup Semi-Final

The first semi-final saw an upset as Third Division Tudor Athletic made it through to the final after knocking out Second Division Langleybury Cricket Club by the odd goal in seven.

Matt Honey scored twice and Dan Bryon once for the home side, but it was not enough to prevent Tudor winning as Callum O'Connor, Matt Wynyard, Jack Robinson and Dean Renphrey all struck.

Athletic now face the winners of this Sunday's Fox & Hounds versus Evergreen tie in the final on April 2.

Challenge Cup Quarter-Final

There was no upset as Premier Division Old Fullerians won the remaining quarter-final, beating First Division AFC Oddfellows 5-2 to set up a last-four clash against Oakview.

Charlie Hailey was the star man for Fullerians, netting four times with Craig Totton scoring the other goal. Dave Wilson and Daniel McDonagh were on target for the visitors.

Ken Simmons Cup Quarter-Finals

Oxhey Rangers may be having a bad season in Division Two but they continue to enjoy themselves in this competition and sprung an upset by beating First Division Croxley 3-2 to reach the last four.

The victory was even sweeter for the home side, who had several of the old Croxley Reserves team that folded at the end of last season in their line-up.

Dan Pipin, Jordan Aston-Woods and Connor Murphy were the players who secured the upset, with Carl Pettitt and Jack Wilson scoring for Croxley.

Premier Division Met Police Bushey are also though but only after being given an almighty fright by Division Five strugglers Batchworth before prevailing 4-2 after extra-time.

Following a goalless first half, the game exploded into life in the second period after Rob Gradwell put the higher ranked side ahead when he capitalised on a mix-up at the back. But Batchworth drew level with 15 minutes left when Jack Davey equalised.

The game swung from end to end, but it was the home side who regained the lead with ten minutes remaining from Dale Jenkins. The underdogs refused to give up though, and with two minutes left they equalised for the second time when Ronnie Stead flicked home a free-kick.

It almost got even better for Batchworth before the 90 minutes were up when Charlie Kimpton missed a glorious chance to win it but his shot rolled agonisingly wide of the far post in injury time.

Met Police finally made their league status tell when they scored for the third time just before the half way point in the extra 30 minutes through Dan Branch, and then four minutes from the end of extra-time Haasan Zeizale made sure of the win.

First Division West Herts overcame Second Division Rickmansworth Athletic 5-1.

The home side scored after just five minutes when a cross from Chris Colman was scrambled in at the far post by Sam Saleh.

Colman added a second for the home side before the visitors pulled one back on the half hour from Jamie Oxley, but Colman doubled his tally just before half-time.

The visitors started the second half in determined fashion but were unable to stop Colman completing his hat-trick and Ryan Legge adding a fifth.

Premier Division

The end of the season cannot come soon enough for bottom-of-the-table Green Dragon who suffered a soul destroying 20-1 defeat against an Oakview side now looking destined to regain the Premier Division title.

Tom Inch scored a magnificent seven goals, Luke Beardsworth four, Luke Lloyd also struck a hat-trick, Tom Kennedy a brace and there were singles from Owen Deamer, Adam Lowton, Terry Smith and Anthony Shepherd. Emanuel Agyeman netted Dragon’s sole consolation.

Reed Rangers’ 5-1 away win over third-placed Rickmansworth Town means they have now opened up an eight-point gap between themselves and the chasing pack, although they remain four points behind Oakview who have also played a game less than Reed.

Chris Blunden took his tally for the season to 19 with a hat-trick, while Nathan Singh and Jamie Speer added singles, as did B. Adams for Town.

Division One

The First Division title remains in the hands of Old Danes Athletic after they opened up a three-point led at the top of the table with a 4-1 away win over RD FC.

They did have to come from behind though, after Sean Donnelly had put the home ahead early on from a free-kick.

But two goals just before the break changed the game as first Jordan Woodcock equalised from close range and then Chris White sprinted clear of the defence to put his side ahead.

Old Danes duly rounded off the win, with White getting his second and Will Keedy also netted.

Colne Valley must be the most inconsistent side across the league’s five divisions.

Just two weeks ago they beat then leaders West Herts 2-0, but on Sunday they suffered a 7-2 defeat to North Watford, whose win means they have a fine chance of clinching third place in the table come the end of the season.

Valley’s whole season seemed to be encapsulated in the first half, as they raced into a two-goal lead in the first 15 minutes through Dave Rooney and Paul Saunders, went on to miss several other chances to have the game wrapped up, before allowing Mansoor Ali to score twice just before half-time to level the scores.

Once again Valley’s lack of players, with only one substitute on this occasion, was a key factor as they started to tire.

The home side, with five replacements to call on, used them to their full advantage as they scored five further goals, with Aamer Khan claiming a well-taken brace and super sub Shoaib Ali coming on to fire a second-half hat-trick.

Division Two

The mid-table clash between Compasses North and Rifle Volunteer Reserves ended in a 3-3 draw.

Vilson Culaj scored two for the home side and James Banfield one, but these were cancelled out by Gary Froy, Ron Blagden and Dan Bourne.

Division Three

Bell Rangers gained a vital 3-1 win over Woodlands United to move up to second place in the table, just a point behind leaders Ripstone with two games in hand, and this was achieved playing with just ten men.

A looped header from George Kus from a Matt Owens cross put Bell head before they doubled their lead when Callum O'Connor met Jamie Calvin's cut back, turned his man and fired into the bottom corner of the net.

Rangers made it three after the break as James Dixon volleyed into the roof of the net from an Owens corner. However, Bell were left with nine men after Luke Peerless was sent off and Woodlands scored a consolation with a free-kick from Chrishan Casey.

Meriden edged out Revolution 4-3 in an end-to-end match.

Ben Dunton put Meriden ahead before their opponents levelled things up in the first half from Khizer Bhandari.

Within ten minutes of the restart of the second half, Dunton and Aarron Crawford had scored a goal each, but Revolution got back on terms again through Alex MacDonald and an own goal. But it was Crawford who scored the winner for Meriden ten minutes from time.

Division Four

Ardent’s 4-1 win over Hertfordshire Lions means they moved a big step closer to the Fourth Division title.

Home side Lions had to win to stand any chance of getting back into the chase for the top prize and Sam Crafts had equalised for the home side from the penalty spot after Dennis Fraser had been brought down in a frantic opening period which had seen Ardent take an early lead.

But goals from Chay Lewis, Andrew Humbles, Dwayne Duncan and an own goal were enough to leave Ardent 12 points clear at the top of the table with the same number of games played as second-placed Bushey Rangers, who beat mid-table Inter 3-2.

Charlie Keeble with two and one from Lewis Yates secured the win after Jordan Heggie and Dayo Akinlabi had replied for Inter.

Division Five

AFC Batchworth went top of the table after a 4-1 home win over William Morris.

Dylan Cooke, Alan Palmer and two-goal Luke Foot earned the victory as Jacob O'Hanlon netted Morris’ consolation.
