Oxhey Jets eased themselves towards the safety line with a 2-1 win over Leverstock Green at the Boundary Stadium in a Spartan South Midlands Premier Division fixture.

Jets opened the scoring on 18 minutes when a heavily-deflected ball finally found Patro Marius Cosmin who fired the ball into the back of the net.

However, the good luck ended their for the Jets player as he gave away a penalty four minutes later.

But Rob Partington was the hero of the hour as he made a vital save to keep Green at bay and his side in the lead.

And with the very last kick of the half, Chris Blunden and Sim Armstrong played a one two to put in Andy Omoah who made it 2-0 to the hosts.

The second half continued much like the first until Cosmin received a yellow card and subsequently a red for dissent.

With the home side down to 10-men it was a battle from then on and Leverstock reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute.

But Jets did not give in and Armstrong rattled the bar with a drive for 25-yeards.

John Smith then hit the inside of the post and to Oxhey’s disbelief it stayed out of the goal.

Green hit the post in the final attack of the game but it was not to be and Jets held on for the three points.

Leverstock gave away a three goal lead in their 3-3 draw with Stotfold in a midweek fixture.

With 86 minutes played Green looked as though they would return to winning ways as they led 3-0 against 10-men.

However a little more than six minutes later, they were left with just one point as the visitors pulled off an unlikely comeback.

Green took the lead in the 21st minute through Jonathan Lacey, before Curtis Donaldson scored twice to give them the three goal lead.

However, the three points were not to be as Drew Cardines pulled one back in the 87th minute.

George Bates scored their second in injury time before Cardines gained another to share the spoils.

Tim O’Sullivan’s Sun Sports side managed back-to-back wins in the SSML after defeating Welwyn Garden City 1-0 on Wednesday night. Karl Penny scored the only goal of the game.

On Saturday, Sports came away from their first ever visit at Leighton Town’s Bell Close with all three points in a 1-0 victory.

Leighton came into the game on a three match unbeaten run with no goals conceded.

Town came out of the blocks the quickest and had two close attempts in the opening minutes.

However, it was Sun who broke the deadlock just before half-time as Gary Wallace smashed the ball into the net at short range.

Tring Athletic scored at the death to secure three points over Colney Heath at the weekend.

The game produced chances from both sides throughout but it was not until the final minute of the match that a goal arrived.

Heath’s Luke Dolan produced a good shot that went straight at keeper Jack Hopwood.

But as the game looked as though it would end as a goalless draw, Tring’s leading scorer Chris Vardy took matters into his own hands with a supreme finish.

Berkhamsted notched their third league double of the season when they were victorious over Edgware Town in a 1-0 scoreline.

Manager Steve Bateman made three changes from the side that kept a clean sheet at Oxhey in midweek.

The Comrades best chances in the first half hour were a fierce drive from Ashley Lewis that flew by the goal and Ashton Campbell pinged a shot against the post.

Dan Jones scored what proved to be the only goal of the game as the half-time interval approached.

An Edgware defender committed a foul 20-yards out and Jones punished them.

He found the net with a left-footed free-kick that beat visiting goalie Cain Davies at his near post.
