Callum Shinkwin and Matt Wallace’s debut appearances at the BMW PGA Championship have come to an end at the halfway stage after a second successive day of tough scoring at Wentworth.

The duo, who are both attached to Moor Park Golf Club, needed to card sub-70 second rounds to be in with a chance of making the cut at the start of play, but both shot over-par scores again to finish near the back of the field.

New European Tour professional Wallace followed up his four-over 76 with a 77 to end the tournament on nine-over, while his Bushey-based club-mate was two shots worse off overall as he also shot a 77 to go with his opening round of 78. However, Shinkwin's day continued to go downhill as he was subsequently disqualified.

The projected cut was at two-over at the time of writing as a day on which scoring has proved difficult for the majority of the field continues to unfold.
