Kings Langley’s chairman has insisted they will continue to reward their existing players with new contracts, providing it doesn’t put the club’s financial stability at risk.

Jeremy Wilkins’ assertion comes after Sam Tring remained with Paul Hobbs’ men, signing a two-year contract at Gaywood Park, after Jorell Johnson and Mitchell Weiss signed new deals with the club, as the Watford Observer previously reported.

Kings have also secured the return of Callum Adebiyi, who comes back to the Gaywood Park club having spent part of last season with Hayes and Yeading United.

However, manager Hobbs has also been dealt a blow, with striker Lewis Toomey leaving the club to join Chesham United.

Kings are currently preparing for their second season in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, having secured their league status on the final day of the last campaign, remaining unbeaten in their last six games.

While insisting that staying up was a great achievement, Wilkins said they do not want to be “perennial strugglers”.

He said: “It was a great achievement to survive in this league last season on our limited resources. The players and management deserve great credit for their efforts. That said, we do not want to be perennial strugglers.

“We are still, essentially, a village club and nobody here is under any illusions at the challenge we face in continuing to operate at this level.

“We learnt a lot last season and while nothing is certain in football we want to put a structure in place that will give us every opportunity to remain both competitive and progressive in this division.”

Wilkins added that he was delighted to secure the services of Johnson, Weiss and Tring and said more new contracts could be on the way, providing it doesn’t put the club’s financial stability at risk.

“Securing the services of quality players such as these will give us a foundation to build on, safe in the knowledge that we can rely on their endeavours for an extended period of time.

“Providing there is no risk to the club’s financial stability we will look to increase our commitment to contracted players going forward.

“However, maintaining the financial well-being of the club will remain our guiding principle.”

The club have also announced that they will be facing a Watford FC XI at Gaywood Park as part of their pre-season preparations on August 5.

They will also face Leverstock Green, Aylesbury, Haringey Borough, Oxhey Jets and Bovingdon, among others, during pre-season.
