Premier Division

Last season’s First Division champions Old Danes Athletic secured a first league win of the season in the top flight at the fifth time of asking with a 3-2 home victory in the local derby with Rickmansworth Town.

The game did not start well for Danes who went a goal behind after just four minutes when their defence was caught out, allowing John Barker to race through to score.

Athletic levelled on the half-hour mark when Chris White’s run and cross allowed Callum Woodcock to score from close range.

White turned scorer two minutes into the second half after being set up by Jordan Woodcock, and Danes looked to have the game won 15 minutes from time when Liam Janusz cracked home a volley after a cross from Josh Burks.

But Athletic were reduced to ten men five minutes later, and with six minutes left Rickmansworth gave themselves a lifeline when Harry Brock scored, but they were unable to force an equaliser.

At the top of the table Fox & Hounds made it five wins out of five after a 1-0 victory over Old Fullerians, but they left it until the last minute when Bradley Thompson scored with a half-volley to claim all three points.

Oakview are in second place after a 3-1 win over Chorleywood Club.

Adam Lowton set up Warren Gladdy for the first of his three goals, scoring from eight yards out after 25 minutes.

He doubled his tally just after the restart, turning to shoot home, but Chorleywood battled back and halved the deficit through James Edwards.

But it was Gladdy who had the final say, completing the scoring and sealing all three points with his third of the game in the final minute.

Rifle Volunteer are in third after their good start to the season continued with a 4-2 win over St Josephs.

Volunteer went ahead after 20 minutes when Gary Froy volleyed home a pass from Ronnie Blagden from 12 yards, but they were soon pegged back when Patrick Lawrence netted from ten yards out.

Rifle were back in front by the interval when Blagden scored his second after a Nick Kerley shot had been parried by the keeper. But it was a goal from the rarest of sources that establish daylight in the second half; Tony Cornick scoring from a goal kick as his clearance upfield bounced over his opposite number and into the goal.

Kerley then added a fourth with a ninth goal in six games, before St Josephs did pull one back through Chad Flaherty.

FA National Sunday Cup Round One

Reed Rangers’ first appearance in the National Cup did not go as planned as they were beaten 4-0 by Club Lewsey in a game played at Sun Postal.

Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round Two

The league’s teams had a good morning with seven sides going through to the next round, although this was helped by three all-WSL ties.

The biggest upset came as Second Division AFC Green Machine beat Colne Valley 5-1, after the First Division team had won 8-1 in the first round.

The game was effectively over by the break with the lower ranked side leading 3-0. A fourth followed from a penalty, before Spencer Warby scored the Valley consolation 15 minutes from time. But the home side wrapped up the win with a fifth in the final minute.

Josh Burt struck a hat-trick for Green Machine, with Kwabeng Oppong and Daniel Perry also netting.

There was another upset as again Second Division beat First, with Oxhey Rangers edging out Cassiobury Rangers 3-2 on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra-time, the scores having been level at 2-2 after the regulation 90 minutes.

Oxhey went ahead in the first half when they scored on the breakaway after a Cassiobury corner as Conor Murphy got the first of his two goals.

Cassiobury looked to have the game won at the start of the second half when they scored twice through Joe Mortimer and Jack Hilburn, but Murphy netted his second late on to take the tie into the extra 30 minutes.

In the first half of extra-time, David Marcyniuk put Oxhey ahead again, before Mark Riddick equalised in the second period to take the game to the shoot-out.

This saw Cassiobury miss three times, while their opponents only failed to net once to send the lower ranked side through.

The final all-WSL tie went according to divisional status as Compasses North beat Bedmond 3-0.

A first-half corner saw Tommy Twelves volley home from close range unmarked at the back post.

The lead was doubled when a superb cross from the right-back found Sam Hakner in the box to head home, and Cleveland Brandy smashed home the third to make it seven wins from seven in all competitions for the victors.

Evergreen also progressed after a 2-0 away at Hemel Tudors - Tom Verbena netting in the first half and Callum Rimmer in the second – while Ripstone beat Boxmoor 6-3 through a Lee Culverhouse hat-trick and singles from Tom Brall, Joe Hardie, and Tom Courtney.

Tudor Athletic beat Cheshunt Phoenix 4-2 after extra-time as Sam Clarke scored twice and Gary Warn and James Hockling one apiece.

North Watford are the other league side through after enjoying a 5-2 away win over The Markyate Swans; Salim Ahbab and Shoaib Ali both scoring twice and Ajmel Ahmed once.

Langleybury CC lost 4-3 on penalties following a 4-4 draw after extra-time to Berkhamsted Tornadoes as goals from Dan Byron (2), Nathan Pooley and Matt Honey ultimately proved insufficient.

Ardent were beaten 5-2 at home by The Hertford Hounds in a game that kicked off 25 minutes late because the home side’s kit turned up late. Charlie Salvage and Dwayne Duncan scored in the defeat.

Woodland United lost 4-1 at The Grove - Joe Ray with their goal - whilst FC Unicorn went down to a single goal defeat to Robin Hood.

Division One

Bushey Grove’s winning start to the season is now but a distant memory after they suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to RD FC in a third straight loss for the hosts.

Kieran Goldberg put the visitors ahead before Steve Hewitt equalised, but Shaun Beaton restored the RD lead just before the break.

Jake Levy completed the scoring for the visitors in the second half.

Division Three

P&P Social are setting the pace with a fifth win on the trot, this time a 4-1 home success over Hertfordshire Lions thanks to a Louie Lobjoit hat-trick and a single from Jimmy Talbot.

Louis McNamara had drawn Lions level in the first half with a well-taken penalty.

Bushey Rangers lead the chasing pack, just two points behind P&P after a narrow 2-1 away win over Inter.

Jack Barr and Sean Burrows got the Bushey goals, with Daniel Diacu replying.

The Tree are just a point behind Bushey after a 5-4 away win over Hertsmere.

Carl Davies scored a brace, with Darryl Hall and Daniel Francis also scoring for the home side, but these goals were not enough to see off The Tree who struck through two-goal Jack Hodgins and singles from Craig Horwood, Adam Cadmore and Glenn O'Malley.

Sun Regent Sports are in fourth place, tucked in nicely behind the front three, after a 7-1 victory over Revolution.

Callum Hearn and Dean Ward both notched hat-tricks, with the seventh goal coming from Ben Dunton. Ollie Donohoe got the Revolution consolation.

A single own goal was enough for AC Little Silhouette of Milan to beat bottom-placed Bricketwood Social.

Division Four

Everett Rovers look the team to stop with a third straight league win after they thumped league leaders South Oxhey 8-0, and they have three games in hand on Sunday’s beaten opponents.

Rovers dominated the game from start to finish but having missed numerous chances they were only 1-0 up at the break thanks to an own goal.

In the second half though, Everett finally found their scoring boots as Luke Preedy made it 2-0 with a penalty after Reece Cameron was brought down by the Oxhey keeper.

Cameron then struck four times himself with substitute Meshach Williams scoring a brace.

Railway Arms are in second place but they missed the chance to take over at the top after being held 1-1 by Oxhey Athletic.

Connor Cooper-Collins’ first-half goal had looked to have sealed the three points for Railway, but the home side took a point thanks to Richard McCrosson’s late equaliser.

AFC Batchworth beat NW FC 4-0 - Bradley Foot, Sean McNally, Alan Palmer-Halligan and Mustafa Khatoun with the goals - whilst Sun Postal Sports have a second league win of the season after a 6-2 victory over Chess United.

Jack Honey and Ben Bugeja got the Chess goals, but their opponents comfortably won the points after Jeff White and Joao Ribeiro both scored twice, with one each from Chris Melsome and Shaun Knighton.
