A second successive four-under-par round of 67 has moved Callum Shinkwin into contention for a high finish at the Turkish Airlines Open heading into tomorrow’s final 18 holes.

The Bushey golfer is six shots off the lead after the third round and sits in a tie for 19th place alongside Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti, but is within two of the overnight top seven at the sixth premier Rolex Series event of the European Tour season.

As with his second round, the Moor Park Golf Club professional’s positive move up the leaderbaord owed much to a run of three successive birdies.

Yesterday it was holes six, seven and eight, while today the 24-year-old picked up a shot apiece on 11, 12 and 13 to add to birdies on the fourth, ninth and 16th holes to move up to eight-under-par at Regnum Carya Resort after dropping shots at the par threes on six and 14.

Moor Park club-mate Matt Wallace will head into the final round in a share of 60th place on two-over-par after a second successive plus-one round of 72 to add to his level-par 71 in Thursday’s opening 18 holes.

Unlike yesterday where the 27-year-old was unable to make a birdie, he made three today, but dropped a shot on four other holes.
