A two-under-par second round of 70 has continued Matt Wallace’s positive progress at the Hero Indian Open and moved him into contention heading into the weekend.

Following yesterday’s 69, the Moor Park professional has moved up four places on the leaderboard into a three-way tie for fifth on five-under-par at the time of writing.

Virtually all of the 27-year-old’s good scoring was done on the front nine holes in his first round in New Delhi and that proved to be the case again today.

Starting at three-under, Wallace was to swiftly move to five-under with back-to-back birdies at the par three third and par five fourth holes.

The Pinner-based professional’s only lapse on the outward nine was a bogey five at the seventh, but he quickly retrieved that shot with interest thanks to birdies at the par five eighth and par four ninth.

Turning at six-under, Wallace dropped a second shot of his round with a five at the par four 10th, but then played the remainder of his round in par golf.

First round leader Emiliano Grillo continued where he left off yesterday and currently holds a four-shot advantage over the rest of the field on 11-under.
