Division One

A third straight win for Langleybury CC, 3-0 over an understrength Colne Valley side has put them two points clear at the top of the table, although they only have two games left to play.

Valley only had the bare 11 players available and were forced to play 46-year-old club secretary Matthew Day, as well as having no recognised striker on the pitch.

They were beaten thanks to first-half goals from a Matt Honey brace and one from Glenn Thompson.

However, Evergreen remain firm favourites to take the title as they have eight games in hand on the leaders.

Premier Division

Old Fullerians missed the chance to go second in the table after losing 3-2 to mid-table St Josephs.

John Knott put Joes ahead in the first half before Fullerians levelled early in the second period through an own goal, with the home defender turning the ball past his own keeper following a Charlie Hailey cross.

St Josephs re-took the lead through Robbie Tocher, but Sam Parker then equalised for Fullerians for a second time when another cross from Hailey caused problems and he headed home at the far post.

It was not enough to secure a point though, with Johnny Hopkins scoring the winner from the edge of the box through a crowd of players.

Division Two

Tudor Athleic wrapped up the title with an 11th win out of 11, although they were given a big fright by Ardent before edging the contest 4-3.

Gary Warn scored a brace, Sam Clarke netted his 20th goal of the season and James Hocking added the other.

It was the battle of goal scorers with Ardent’s Charlie Salvage scoring his 17th of the campaign, with the others coming from Glenn Rawlings and Ross Parsons.

Division Four

Everett Rovers warmed up for this Sunday’s Junior Cup Final with a 4-1 win over fellow title hopefuls AFC Batchworth to leave themselves three points behind leaders South Oxhey but with six games in hand.

Rovers took the lead after 20 minutes when Reece Cameron finished from just inside the box.

Mark Hansard scored a second after being put through after a fine pass, but Everett should have had the game wrapped up shortly before half-time when Cameron was brought down in the box.

However, the resulting penalty was missed by Gary Wicks, who struck the woodwork, although their opponents were reduced to 10 men as the player who conceded the spot-kick receieved a second yellow card.

Rovers were given a scare early in the second half when Batchworth scored through Jake Knight, but Everett restored their two-goal advantage within a minute of the restart when Wicks made up for his earlier penalty miss by netting from a tight angle.

The match was put beyond AFC, who battled hard despite being a man down, 10 minutes later when Everett broke swiftly on the counter-attack as Hansard and Wicks combined to put it on a plate for Cameron to slot home from five yards for his second of the game.

Batchworth’s 2-0 home win over Oxhey Athletic has given them hope in their battle to avoid finishing bottom of the table.

Both goals came in the first half, with Batchworth going ahead when an under-hit back pass was intercepted by Kai Wiggins, who slotted home.

Wiggins was also involved in the second goal which followed soon after when he and Michael Bright set up Sam Hollis to fire the ball into the top corner.

Batchworth controlled the game after the break to safely secure the three points.

Invitation Cup Group A

Ripstone will be the happier of the two sides after a 2-2 draw with Cassiobury Rangers left them top of the group after three games played and seven points to their name, while their opponents remain in second with four points.

Cassiobury were left kicking themselves after they blew a two-goal lead, given to them by Mark Ferguson’s brace, and their opponents had a player sent off.

Despite being a player light, Ripstone battled back after the break and goals from Ollie Brill and Rob Benson means they have given themselves a real chance of qualification for the semi-finals.
