Defending champions Kings Langley will make the short trip to Chipperfield Clarendon in the quarter-finals of the Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield, with all second round ties now completed.

Having easily seen off Watford Town B by 10 wickets, Kings will now face a Chipperfield team who successfully chased down Leverstock Green A’s total of 170-4 off their 14, eight-ball overs to win by seven wickets.

The winners of that quarter-final will face either Aldenham School or Langleybury in the second semi-final at Abbots Langley on Thursday, June 21.

The School team booked their place in the last eight after successfully defending a total of 134-8 by restricting Watford Haidery to 123-8.

Langleybury bowled Bushey out for 103 and then raced to the total for the loss of just two wickets.

The first semi-final is due to be played at Kings Langley on Tuesday, June 19 and will see either Radlett or Aldenham take on the winners of Abbots Langley’s clash with West Herts.

Having upset Watford Town A, Aldenham now travel to the Herts League Premier Division side, who made 174-4 and then limited Leverstock Green B to 90-7 in reply.

Fellow top-flight side West Herts (158-7) ended last year’s Shield finalists Northchurch’s (111-10) hopes of going one better.

The Stags will now visit Abbots Langley, who made 151-6 before limiting Watford Grammar School for Boys to 123-7.

Following the completion of the second round, the eight teams to qualify for the Plate will be finalised shortly.
