Watford have refused to comment on whether Reading have made an approach for manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Royals have started approaching clubs to ask for permission to speak to managers under contract and Rodgers is believed to be top of their wish list.
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony yesterday confirmed Reading had requested to speak to Darren Ferguson and that the Royals told him there were seven possible candidates.
This makes it increasingly likely that Reading did approach Watford over the weekend and sources in Reading today confirmed that a request to speak to Rodgers was made.
But the Hornets are refusing to comment on the issue despite the continued speculation Rodgers could be on his way out of Vicarage Road.
Peterborough chairman MacAnthony has publicly stated he told Reading they could not speak to Ferguson, despite the manager expressing his wish to, unless the Royals met his valuation, which he said is in excess of the £1 million being reported.
