Brighton and Hove Albion considering move for Watford and Republic of Ireland Under-21's John-Joe O'Toole

Brighton and Hove Albion are considering a move for Watford's John-Joe O'Toole, the Watford Observer understands.

Attacking midfielder O'Toole is understood to have had a medical at Sheffield United at the weekend following a successful bid, although Watford will not comment on the deal.

United, where O'Toole spent the end of last season on loan, are believed to have made a combined bid of around £500,000, but a large part of that sum is expected to be add-ons.

JJOT is better than Brighton and should be a first team/squad player with us. He will score a good number of goals and could work well with Severin in midfield. If TS and TP stay and work together up front with Danny Graham breaking in to the team from the bench and we have Cowie, Severin, O'Toole and McAnuff in midfield, and 4 of Doyley, Mariappa, Willaimson, DeMerit and Harley as the back 4 and Loach in goal that would not be a bad first team. We now need 7 on the bench, I think. That would leave one of the 5 I put in for the back 4 plus, Danny Graham, Richard Lee,Ross Jenkins, Matthew Sadler,Ross Jenkins, and one of Lewis Young, Nathan Ellington (if he stays), Will Hoskins, or Gareth Williams (if he can ever play again). Not a bad squad, if they can all be kept together.

If you look at who we currently still have on our books things could be good this coming season. Keep the faith!!

i think he's worth a lot more than £500,000 for a young championship and international players that has scored a lot of goals and leat 2.5m plus a huge sell on clause

Hexham Hornet i agree in principle with what your saying and 500,00 is too little but i think Ross is better than JJOT. I seem to remember GWs' contract expired and wont be renewed though. We have the basis of a good first team and if TS does go i hope we can use some of that money to fund a some players.

Someones on the wind up aint they?
JJOT is much better than a struggling League 1 side.
What are Sheff utd up to anyway, are they just offering minimum wage?

Busheyhornet, yes I know that Williams has been out of contract, but on the WFC website he has been given squad number 25. Does that mean he is still there? Severin is included in the squad as well, so it is pretty up to date!

You could be right about Ross, but Severin will be the defensive cover and JJOT would be the one pushing up and getting goals, which would give him the edge in my squad. I think we could be ok if we don't lose players, and may be a couple light for strength in depth as a full squad.

Maybe they mean Bangura to Brighton as he was on loan there..

O'Toole will go to Sheff U for 750k.

Ashley Young - bugger all?? Admittedly, there was no obvious benefit from his sale, so it may as well have been bugger all. Your first point is very valid, though I'd insert the words "to us" between 'sold' and 'for'.

I see you're posting from Qld. What part of God's Own State are you in?

Is JJOT really that desperate to get out of WFC?

JB11 - you ask that question, but having seen some of his performances during last season, he did seem to be coming increasingly frustrated and was resorting to hoofball rather than the skillfull touches he was initially displaying. Now i don't know if that is due to a loss of confidence, some tension with other team mates, feeling 'out of it' having been sent out on loan, but he didn't seem a happy team member at the end of the season.
