O'Toole, Sadler and Young will not travel with Watford first team to Wealdstone

Trialist Claudio Beauvue should feature for Watford against Wealdstone tomorrow but Tommy Smith will not play.

The Hornets have this evening released their squad lists for the two 'Watford XI' games against the Stones and Hampton and Richmond Borough.

Malky Mackay confirmed this week he will be taking his first team to Wealdstone boss Gordan Bartlett's testimonial and the development squad will go to Borough.

Right midfielder Beauvue is on trial from French club Troyes and will be part of the Wealdstone squad which is without a number of first-team members.

Watford today said Smith, who is the subject of interest from a number of clubs, is out with a shin injury and has been rested as a precaution, as has Ross Jenkins.

Jobi McAnuff, Will Hoskins and Al Bangura are all still out with injury and illness.

Young midfielder Kurtney Brooks, forward Marvin Sordell, Beauvue and Academy keeper Jamie Irving all come into Mackay's 20-man squad.

John-Joe O'Toole, who is expected to move to Sheffield United, Lewis Young and Mat Sadler have all been placed in the 17-man development group.

Squad for Wealdstone: Beauvue (trialist), Brooks, Bryan, Cowie, Doyley, Ellington, Eustace, Graham, Harley, Henderson, Hodson, Irving (gk), Kiernan, Lee (gk), Mariappa, Oshodi, Priskin, Severin, Sordell, Williamson.

Squad for Hampton and Richmond: Angus, Bond (gk), Deer, Fenwick, Gibson, Hemati, Lavers, Mingoia, North (gk), Otshudi, O’Toole, Penny, Rosier, Sadler, Whichelow, Yiadom, Young.

hm...I accept we will get injuries and players rested but I am not convinced Smith is at all.

Just being saved for a sale next week?

Doesn't look like there's any great effort to persuade John Joe to hang around...sending him out with the youngsters seems like a pretty clear message to me.Can't help fearing we will regret this one day.
By the way, does anyone know what's happened to Cauna ? I must have missed something.Pity again, hell of a shot .

I don't think we wanted to pay the 750k fee his club were demanding.

I think there is more chance unfortunately of pigs flying than Tommy being a Watford player at the start of the season.

If I am correct the less match practice he has the better.

As for O'Toole he had potential but needs to move on and out and the very best of luck to him just hope he makes the right decisions for his sake because as yet he is not the finished article
