Watford legend Heidar Helguson has completed his protracted loan move back to the Hornets.

Helguson has been linked with a return to the club where he made his name for weeks but after a four-year absence, the Iceland international is back at Vicarage Road until the end of December.

The 32-year-old, who will not feature in tonight's game at Plymouth, was a fans favourite during his five-and-a-half years in Hertfordshire and scored 55 league goals in 132 games after arriving from Lillestrom.

QPR made Watford aware of Helguson’s availability shortly before the close of the transfer window a few weeks ago but the two sides were unable to conclude the deal in time.

Helguson, who left the Hornets for Fulham in 2005 in a £1.3m move, is out of favour with new Rangers boss Jim Magilton following the arrival Watford target Jay Simpson, despite only completing his permanent move from Bolton in January.

The striker has only made 59 starts in the four seasons since leaving Watford, scoring 22 goals in total, with a large proportion of his displays coming from the bench.

During his loan switch, QPR have agreed to contribute to a considerable proportion of the striker’s wages.

The arrival of Helguson is sure to end any speculation linking Watford with a move for Sunderland’s David Healy.
