Steve Finn has kept his place in the England team for the first Test against Pakistan this morning.
The hosts won the toss at Trent Bridge and have elected to bat with Watford bowler Finn appearing to be promoted to number ten on the team sheet.
The 21-year-old Middlesex star has recently completed a six-week strength and conditioning programme and admits he is hungry to get back in action.
Finn said: "It was something that the people making decisions thought was best for my career and I bought into it. Of course I missed not playing cricket but if anything it just made me hungrier to get back out there.
"It was very good for my development. I feel much stronger from it and I'm looking forward to getting back out there. I did lots of work in the gym and plenty of running, it was a very specific programme. I feel very good from it already but I just have to wait and see. I'm sure in the long run it is going to prove very beneficial for me."
