A number of Watford Joggers set club records at the Finchley 20 mile road race on Sunday.

Mark Woolf set a senior record of 2.11.42 around the flat four lap course which was ideal preparation for next month’s London Marathon. Colin Taylor set a new best in the MV50 section in a time of 2.09.42 while Dave Dixon set a record of 2.23.13 in the MV40 competition.

Brian James also clocked a time of 2.21.19 which earned him the MV60 record. Robert Gaddie managed a personal best of 2.32.30 and Malcolm Salmons also beat his fastest time by posting 2.51.30.

Linda McQuaid also broke the FV55 record for her best time of 3.16.13. Angela Halford broke her PB by 22 minutes after finishing in 2.55.37 while Marcia Quinn also smashed her best after a 3.25.34 time.

Race debutant Paul Biswell had to battle hard over the last two miles with a calf strain as he finished bravely in 3.15.53. His run ended with club mates carrying him back to the house.

Victoria Sylvester also debuted at the distance as she finished in a time of 2.48.52. Roz Fullylove also achieved a PB with a time of 3.04.23.

In other action, Nigel Higgs improved on his PB at the weekly 5k time trial at Slough Black Park (25.24).
