Watford Joggers had 18 members in action at the Whipsnade 10k on Sunday.
Marcus Edwards (40.33) continues to run really well over the distance to beat the club’s leading 5k runner Andy Dean (41.44).
Angela Halford was delighted with her personal best of 51.29 as was Linda McQuaid (53.35), who set her previous best the previous week at the London Bupa 10k. Angela Edwards (56.02) and Frances Chater also set their best, with race or distance debuts for Marcia Quinn (56.28) and Douglas McQuaid (1.09.26).
The Coombe Hill fell race in Wendover only attracted four members from the club.
Chairman Colin Taylor posted his usual good time with 26.40 for 24th but Brian James (29.03), in a higher age group, ran well for 47th spot. Clare Bonnick was not far behind in 32.42 for 93rd, while Ian Bonnick managed 138th place after 35.16.
Mark Studdart travelled to Sweden for the Stockholm half-marathon.
He managed a respectable time of 3.38.38 in a friendly race that welcomed the slower runner.
James looks likely to challenge the nation’s best in his age group with his rate of progress as he warmed up for the difficult Coombe Hill race by leading the Joggers home in a time of 20.00 at Saturday’s latest Black Park 5k time trial.
James Gamble (21.17) also improves at a pace as the club strengthens at all distances.
