Kings Langley Football Club have received a new team kit and improved clubhouse showers after being named winner of the ‘Kitted Out’ competition.

The club, which has endured financial difficulties after its premises was burgled last November, beat hundreds of other sports teams to the prize after their manager Kevin Richardson put the side up for nomination.

"I never thought for one moment we would win but thought I’d give it a shot anyway," said Richardson.

"Those who run and help out at the club are incredibly dedicated and have put their heart and soul into generating money and ensuring the premises remain well-kept. The club doesn’t believe in borrowing money or debt so all costs are covered by fundraising and donations.

Cynthia Fisher, director at Anti-scald bathroom manufacturer Inta, who ran the competition, added: "Kings Langley FC really stuck out for us, it’s a fantastic club offering competitive and recreational football from ages six to 18 at youth level, right through to senior level with the southern counties floodlit, reserves and first teams.

"We had so many deserving entries, but could tell that this club is really valued in the community."
