Brendan Venter accused his side of a lack of effort after Saracens slumped to defeat at London Wasps.
The Men in Black failed to get on the scoreboard for the first time this season as they lost their third Guinness Premiership match in the last four.
Sarries' director of rugby admitted his team were fortunate to be only 6-0 down at half time and was unhappy with his team's effort in the first half.
Venter said: "It's all about the effort you put in and in the first half we just lacked effort, it's as simple as that. Why? That's obviously the trick and something we have to figure out but sometimes they had more than us.
"We really lacked intensity which is a disappointment because that's what we pride ourselves on.
“I actually don't know why so I've put that one in their court. We don't mind at Saracens if you make a mistake, that's just the way life is, but when we lack a little bit of effort we really get disappointed."
