Forward Britt Assombalonga's first season as a professional continues to go from strength-to-strength after he was recalled by Watford.

The likeable youngster scored 11 goals in 15 appearances on loan at Ryman Premier side Wealdstone earlier this season, which led to a temporary move to Braintree Town of the Conference.

Assombalonga scored four goals in his last two games to take his tally to five in as many games at Braintree.

This prompted Hornets manager Sean Dyche to recall Assombalonga, who joined Watford's Academy after impressing on one of the community trust's courses at Hertswood School.

"It's been great to have played so many games this season - and to have scored a few goals," Assombalonga told the Watford Observer earlier this week, during an interview which can be seen in full in this week's paper.

"I have tried not to over-think things too much and just to go out and play.

"It's a bigger test of your mental strength in the Conference than the Ryman League, because the games are more intense and physically demanding.

"But it's been great this year. I've played in a few positions, for two different clubs, and it couldn't have gone much better."

The forward, who can also play on either flank, was playing for his Sunday league side just over two years ago before being recommended to Watford by one of the trust's coaches.

Assombalonga earned his first professional contract last year and signed a contract extension with Watford at the beginning of February, which will run until the summer of 2013.

"I spoke last week about all young players' rate of development being different - and here we have another case in point," Dyche told the club's website.

"We've deemed it fit for Britt to be back involved here now and to continue his development within our club.

"He's had some great external influences over the past few months, a taste of what it means to be playing competitively in senior football on a regular basis.

"We cannot control every last detail of what happens with our players when they're out on loan, but we do our research thoroughly and we're certain our players at clubs where they're in good hands.

"That's definitely been the case where Britt's concerned. Now let's see what he can do back at Watford."

Former Academy team-mate Jack Bonham has agreed a one-month loan extension with Harrow Borough, which will expire on April 14.

Bonham is technically a second-year scholar but signed a professional contract last year.

Second-year scholar Aaron Tumwa will also continue to play for Harrow as part of a work experience agreement but midfielder Stephan Hamilton-Forbes will not remain with the Ryman Premier side.
