Watford's search for an away win continues as they went down 2-0 at Derby County to extend their winless run to 12 matches.
The deadlock was broken on 12 minutes through a wonder strike by Michael Tonge as the midfielder's left-footed strike from 25 yards went in off the cross bar.
There were few chances in the game and Derby made sure of the win with less than 15 minutes remaining as Chris Porter slid the ball underneath Loach.
Derby: Bywater; Hunt, Barker, Buxton, Moxey; Tonge (Anderson 80), Green, Savage, Pearson; Porter (Martin 88), Hulse (Davies 75).

The reality is MM is too unwilling to shake it up. Dyche is out of his depth - spitting , cursing and intimidating 4th officials. We need a shake up - the MM management team are too protective of the current starting line up. Next week's home matches will proably just cover over the major problems we have. MM and team have been found out.

I don't have a lot of spare cash but took my son to Derby today as a 'treat'. I probably should have stayed home and hit myself with a brick for 90 mins as a 'treat'. I have to agree with Herts Hornet. We all love Doyley but he is really an average league 2 defender whose only real skill is running fast. Every time he gets the ball it's hot potato time 'arghh the ball get rid, get rid'. A left footed left back (who can run very fast) is a must for next season. When we do get possession near the penalty area the tactic appears to be pass to as many yellow shirts as possible, ensuring that no one shoots at goal until all the defenders are blocking the way. A brief synopsis of the game - First half - we are absolutely cr*p - Derby pass to each other and score a good goal a shot from outside the area - maybe we could try that? Second half - we are much better dominating the game, then demerit loses possession and probably Derbys first shot in the 2nd half results in a goal. If Lansburys banjo had hit the cows rear - who knows it could have ended at 1-1 which would have been a fairer result. Fact is we have a average team that blows hot and cold. Some great, some good, and some shocking players but they're all we've got, and we'll just have to hope they all get a lot hotter from now until May. p.s the best player in the stadium today was sitting in the stand 5 seats away from me - a certain Mr Cleverley. The sooner he is back on the pitch the better.

Yes game about opinions and went to game optimistic we would finally get an away win ,that same derby mate of mine was very uncomfortable all week saying "we are due a win away and no doubt against us e.t.c " and again i agreed so stupidly got in the car spent the money and was treated to this awful "performance" ,have now slept on it and feel worse than i did last night ,if things do not change quickly and with current board in place ,who actually makes any decisions, we could very easily end up in Div 1 ,we have a mangement team who are "confortable" they are not in any danger of being removed as know one with any balls to change things, and we have a team also confortable they have no competition for places ,and the performances recently NO WINS IN TWELVE show that loud and clear for me ,love my team and used to enjoy going away ,think i will use my head rather than my heart for now like many hundreds more have if this is the standard of effort we are going to get , the support yesterday vocally was terriffic ,the team and mangement did not deserve it !! RELEGATION LOOMES TIME TO WAKE UP PEOPLE QUICK .
Common sense from Chris the Vic as usual. It has always been obvious that we started the season two experienced centre halves short. Malky will know that and he did well to eventually find someone like Taylor but how is he expected to put it all right without money? Demerit might well be an experienced international but he has always made mistakes for Watford. All credit to herts hornet for going to the game and he is entitled to his views. He wrote that Mariappa and Doyley were poor. I couldn't get reception for the Watford commentary so had to listen to the Derby commentary. It was interesting however to hear them say that Mariappa had a very good game and was a constant threat offensively. I guess the game is all about opinions and we all see things differently. Its difficult to make wholesale changes when we have a small squad. I do think Hoskins deserves to start a few games although I think one or two people on here have got carried away with his three goals in midweek. Given their severe financial problems Southend's reserve side is hardly going to be full of world beaters. At the start of the season I wrote that anything above 16th place will represent a very good effort and I still hold the same view. I think our home form will see us through provided the dreadful Vic pitch doesn't make us resort to the long stuff. I am coming to the view that Elton's concert money would be better invested in pitch replacement. Earlier in the season it was obvious that we were capable of very good football but it will become increasingly difficult as the pitch becomes worse.

Agree with the previous post, we cannot keep blaming Boofers. He is at Colchester now and seems to be doing a good job. Malky is in charge; he selected his backroom staff and he selects the team and tactics. I said all along that he was another Colin Lee and that is slowly proving to be the case. It is the current board who are now guilty of mismanagement by appointing a rookie manager on a three year deal without an experienced assitant. If we stay up this season then things will only get tougher next season. It is inevitable that Harley and Eustace will leave; it is unlikely that Lansbury and Cleverly will return which leaves us with a midfield of young and inexperienced players; Demerrit, too, will leave, and we will not be able to afford to bring in an experienced replacement. Hoskins will also likely head for the exit door which will leave us with just Graham and Henderson if Helguson decides to stay at QPR(lets face it he is the kind of player than Warnock would want). If we survive this season, then we will surely be favourites for relegation next season. Especially if the current management team are left in place.

WFC4ever, rousman and others imbeciules who still dellude themselves that hoofroyd was a good manager. The man is incompetent, arrogant and disliked by those in the know. An amateur that still believes he will unseat Capello some day soon. Sadly, we will need min 6 points from the next three games to avoid being 50/50 for ther trap door.

So, that said, we are stuck with it I'm afraid, as frustrating as that may sound. We have Mackay as manager and he will be even if we slip into the bottom 3 (which we won't). Suggest you take the frustration out on the real perpetrators of the current situation, if you can, as your statements about woeful backroom staff, etc are not at all helpful when what we all need is to pull together. - Let's consider you are the manager for a moment. You are on a bad run and are feeling the pressure of not winning in 12 away games. What reaction from the fans do you think would be the most helpful to you in order to stop the slump? Now really stop and think about it for a while and then get back to me. What would motivate you to try harder/do better for what is virtually a thankless task? - Suggestion for the next 3 games - let's raise the roof. 7 points from 9 will put a stop to all this nonsense.

Only 2 Ross Jenkins - you mention support and "raise the roof" - not likely our support vocally at home couldn't raise a tissue. I have written about this before cos it really frustrates me but our support this season has been as sh*te as our team. You also mention 2 out of 3 wins at home will put an end to this nonsense - bit short sighted that isn't it? Half our games are played away and even if we win the next 3 at home it will merely paper over the cracks.

Sadly peoples memories are short.
The heroic Boofers took over Coclchester from Lambert after they smashed Norwich. Lambert now has Norwich clear at the top and Boofers is picking what is basically Lamberts team. Boofers does not compare with Lambert.
Then there was Boofers clear at the top of the championship with some great players at Championship level. WBA beat us 3.0 on our home turf and boofers hadnt a clue how to turn it round with a large and capable squad.
Malkys squad at the star of the season was ok, he was then stripped of LeeW, Tommy s, Tamas, willow,Jobi and Ras was lost and yet we have fought well over the season.
Wake up, get behind the team and pray for five more home victories and safety. next year we may have a team that has stabilised and that can be improved by Buckley, McGinn, Jenkins, Hodson and Loach all improving and we have a great chance of retaining Cleverly and maybe getting another couple of loanees like him.
Back the team against Swansea and hope that by next year the boardroom and possibly ownership is settled.

Dear oh dear what a cheery lot yo are..the phrase "Don't panic" comes to mind..yes we have an awful away record, sometimes that just happens,it has happened before and will again.Put this against the fact that due to various circumstances we have played 2 home games so far in 2010 is it any wonder we have slipped down the table.I would suggest we judge things after March where we have 5 home games, the critiscm that has been levelled at both the playes and manager above is ridculous and un warranted. Some of the football and matches this season have produced football of a level I have never seen from a Watford side in nearly 40 years and yes that includes GT,we are well capable of finishing on the fringes if not in the play-offs..for Gods sake pull yourselves together and get behind the lads..if this kind of negativism transmits itself to them then we will be in trouble.Look up not down.

Our support is rubbish and unless MM goes we will only ever be an average Championship side or a relegation struggler. Our stadium is embarrasing and does us no favours. Unless we get a Roman Abramovich come into this club, then we will always be 'little old Watford'. We only get into the Premier League every six years and even then we struggle.
