Barnsley manager Keith Hill was bored of the Watford game after ten minutes

Barnsley boss Keith Hill described the game with Watford as "very boring" and joked he was tempted to leave after just ten minutes due to the weather.

Saturday's match was not one for the purists and with the Hornets in control for the majority of the match, there was very little for the Barnsley manager to be happy about.

Hill said: "It was very boring and not great to watch. I thought about getting on the motorway to avoid the storm after ten minutes. That’s how bad it was.

"I like my football but that resembled rugby. We lost the game and maybe that was down to Watford. They stopped us playing and have plenty of quality.

"We controlled possession but didn’t do enough of it.

"Their first goal summed up the game. There was an air shot, two miss-hits and then goal. The cardinal sin was to concede the second goal like we did.

"We should be talking about getting a point from this game. We have to dig in and get something from it.

"It was a bit like gardening and I don’t like gardening so that sums it all for me."

Better suited to gardening as not much of a manager! Best thing he can do is crawl back under the stone he came from! Old story nicked from the Sunday papers anyway! yawn on!

What? Not the referee/linesman's fault they lost? This bloke won't last five minutes as a manager!

What a motivator this man must be to his team. Can you imagine his stirring half time team talk? Do one Hill you numpty.....wish you did go after 10!

Not sure how he got to the rugby comment - unless it was a comment on how many of his players got booked (3 I think)? To be fair to the players it was freezing and I am sure the conditions forced a few errors but Watford were the better team (apart from a spell after half time and the last ten minutes). I wonder if Mr Hill would have been so bored if he went away with the 3 points?

Most games will be boring if one team doesn't have a shot on goal till the last 5 minutes meaning the other doesn't have to get out of 2nd gear as such....

Yeh I agree with him. Game was so dull. But its only the result that counts. Just gonna be a mid table finish this season, same as last few seasons.

I'm glad we have a manager who sticks to talking about the game rather than attention seeking rubbish like this. If he's such a football purist he should have got his team to play some football.

What a daft man
I run a landscaping business and am checking with my brief if there's anything libellous in his anti Gardening comments(!!!)
You lost we were better, suck it in man

I enjoyed the three points, thought we were deserving but did this guy have to metion the air shot.

Cant remember the last time I saw so many from one player, not even Scottie could have managed three(?) and this guy is the replacement for Marvin and we still took the points.

Cant wait for a new pitch, what other reason could there be?

SOUR GRAPES!

We may only be in for a mid table finish but with our resources and after all who left in the summer, what a finish that would be and to build on for next season.

Only my second game of the season and I thought it wasn't a bad game. Think we always looked more "likely" and did demonstrate a bit of a cutting edge that Barnsley completely lacked. Thought Garner did pretty well, ran the channels well and made some good runs even if he didn't do much with it when he got it. I think that may well come if he's given a run.
Great to see Sean Murray play, the main reason I went and endured the freezing temperatures - it's certainly not the beer in the V bar that's for sure.
Overall, think SD is doing pretty well given the constraints and rather awkward modus operandi foisted on him by Barrow Boy Baz. Get yer Centre Forwards, £3mill will do!

Annoying comments because we are trying to play the ball to feet much more now. A decent pitch with no rugby on it would help but the most important thing to make for a better game Mr.Hill would have been if your team could have put in a shift rather than just go through the motions. Keep it going Sean, sour grapes from your opposite number means you're getting right!

What a tool. You lost because we were quicker, slicker and stronger- typified by Eustace's second goal. At no point was there any threat- your team barely showed up. Says it all about modern football when a northern Neanderthal moans about the weather. Grow some you wetpants and I don't mean carrots.

Not been to Peterborough, and Selhurst Park is not top of my list of favourite away grounds, but a trip to Forest is always worthwhile.

Peterborough is a great away day! 1 hour up the road, massive terrace away end with a roof! And we normally do ok up there. Can anyone remember the great 4-3 win up the in the early 90s? Lavin,Dublin,Bailey and cant remember other goal scorer. Any ideas? Think there was about 4'000 Watford up there that night! Had to win to stay up if i am right. I was only 13/14 but boy what a game!

Not sure why everyone is slating him so much - as per quite a few of our games this year that was pretty mind-numbing for large parts of the game, with little quality on show.

As other people have said though, despite the lack of quality, the main thing this season is survival, so I'd take the 3 points over anything for the time being.

Why can't I stand up for the Barnsley boss lutondown? Doesn't make me any less of a Watford fan to see his point of view...

No, I'm certainly not slating your view
And in the cold light of day most of what you say is true.
It does come across as sour grapes but perhaps there was some humour in his statement that don't come across.
Keep on being different
