John Salomon believes Watford Ladies "can turn our season around" when they return to Women's Super League 2 action in July after a 3-0 loss at Everton Ladies made it seven defeats from the opening nine games of the campaign.

Goals from Paige Williams, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Michelle Hinnigan in a 16-minute period either side of half time leaves the Golden Girls bottom of the table heading into the second part of the season, which gets underway with a tough trip to joint leaders Doncaster Rovers Belles on Saturday, July 11.

The Watford manager had no complaints about the outcome of Sunday's game but says patience is needed with his young charges.

The average age of the Lady Hornets' starting XI was 19.8 - 19.1 for the matchday squad - and Salomon said: "We have to be patient with this group of players because they are all so young and they still have a lot to learn.

"We know that there are areas we still need to strengthen nand improvements we need to see, but there are players here who have very bright futures ahead of them. Our job is to help them fulfill that potential.

"I believe in this squad and I am confident that we can turn our season around when we kick off again in July."

Salomon does not like the fact it is six weeks until his side play again, but has vowed "to come out fighting" when the season resumes.

"I'm not a huge fan of the break, but it will give us an opportunity to regroup," he said. "We have learnt a lot of lessons from the first stage of the season.

"We'll use the period to make some changes and ensure we are giving ourselves every chance of being successful when we go again.

"We also hope to have two or three of out long-term injury absentees back in contention. We'll draw a line under this stage of the season, start again in July and come out fighting with plenty to prove."

Having withstood a quick start from their hosts, the Golden Girls fell behind in the 33rd minute when Williams headed home from a corner.

It looked like the visitors would go into the break only one behind but shortly before the interval Boye-Hlorkah cut inside and fired a fine effort past Shayla Burgess and into the corner of the net.

And two became three six minutes after the restart when Hinnigan directed in a cross to put the Toffees comfortably in charge.

Watford's best chance of pulling one back came when Sasha Adamson sent a near-post corner goalwards, only to be thwarted by a good save by Kirstie Levell.

The match also marked the end of midfielder Jenna Dear's loan spell with the club.

The England Under-19 international returned to Chelsea Ladies, having scored twice in seven appearances.
