Watford Ladies gained their first win of the FA Women’s Super League 2 season as they beat Everton Ladies 2-1.

Goals from Ellie Mason and Charlotte Kerr was enough to seal the victory for the Lady Hornets.

Everton’s Claudia Walker opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Mason equalised four minutes later from the penalty spot.

Kerr scored with 10 minutes remaining at the Broadwater Stadium and the team now hope they can take this momentum forward into the rest of the season.

Everton, who sit third in the table on 14 points, were unbeaten before they travelled to Berkhamsted on Sunday.

Watford Ladies head coach Katie Rowson told the FA WSL website: “Nobody’s sprinkled magic dust on us this morning and sent us out to do that.

"That has been gruelling hard work over the last three weeks, lots of reflection from the first part of the season, and we're really happy that we've achieved our targets today - and foor it to be against Everton is unbelievable.

"We're not stunned - we're relieved. It's so emotional, which is absolutely brilliant, but now this has to be the benchmark in terms of the performance.

"Anything less is not good enough. They gave everything - and thats what we ask for.

"The only way to come off the pitch is to crawl off. We've got to kick on from here, we've got not choice but to kick on."

The Golden Girls sit bottom of the league on goal difference as they are level on four points with Sheffield Ladies FC.
