There were contrasting cup fortunes for the Watford Ladies Youth teams at the weekend.

The Under-17 Hornets eased past Tottenham Hotspur Ladies 5-0 courtesy of a Linda Afuakwah hat-trick in the Capital Girls’ League Cup.

Further goals from Sinead Carroll and Liv Syson ensured the side moved onto the next round.

The Under-13s were also in deadly goalscoring form as they fired 14 past Alexandra Park Youth.

Aulona Xhema scored five goals and there were hat-tricks for Kayra Karakus and Chiara Lape. Strikes from Chloe Hewitt, Catherine Reeves and an own goal completed the scoring.

However, the Under-11s as they narrowly missed out on a place in the next round after they lost 3-2 to Pro:Direct Academy BXB.

Macey Bannerman-Lloyd and Morgan King were on target for the Hornets but having missed two penalties the Golden Girls were punished and were edged out by their opponents.

The Youth Development Squad were also unfortunate to get knocked out of the London and South East Regional Women’s Football League Cup, losing 3-2 to Crawley Wasps.

Goals from Emma Beddington and Emma Kern were not quite enough to see them through in a battling performance.

Watford goalkeeper Maddie Gorton picked up a nasty injury after 30 minutes and they had to play the rest of the game with a stand-in stopper..

There was an all-Watford derby in the Herts Girls Partnership League as the Under-15 Hornets defeated the Harts 5-1.

A brace from Sasha Williams and further goals from Charlotte Bailey and Ciara Purdue gave the Hornets the solid victory.
