The Capital Girls League Cup saw Watford’s Girls Academy Under-16 side suffer penalty shoot-out heartbreak against Westway.
After going in 2-1 down at half-time, Watford took the game to penalties thanks to Ellie Wilkerson’s stunning 50-yard volley, which lobbed the Westway stopper.
Spot-kicks proved to be cruel to Watford as two fine saves saw them fall to a 4-3 defeat and go out of the competition.
Meanwhile, the Under-12s were in friendly action against Watford Youth Hornets.
Their opponents enjoyed the majority of the possession in a game which was played over four quarters.
They led 4-2 with only a quarter remaining, before the Academy side showed the class to turn the game on its head and record a 5-4 win.
Shakira Kafero-Roberts was the star player as she scored four goals to add to a Charlotte Forester effort.
The Under-10s faced two games, against Barnet and Islington respectively.
They eased to a 6-0 win over Barnet and continued their strong form with a 4-1 defeat of Islington.
