Gianfranco Zola has indicated the recent rotation of Watford's strikers is unlikely to become common practice.
The Hornets started with Troy Deeney and Fernando Forestieri against Peterborough United on October 20 and then played Matej Vydra and Alex Geijo at Cardiff City.
Despite Geijo's impressive performance against Cardiff, Zola opted to bring back Deeney and Forestieri for Saturday's defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
Zola said: "I know that in certain positions I have good choices and because I had three games in a week, I took advantage to rotate the strikers and I also rotated Almen Abdi in the last game.
"I can afford to do that but it is not something which I am obliged to do all the time. We had seven days to recover so it is not like I will be rotating again. It is not certain, we will see."
Watford go into their home game with Leicester City tomorrow (Saturday) on the back of two narrow away defeats, which came courtesy of injury-time goals.
Their head coach believes the Hornets are defending too deep late on in games and stated the team have been working on the issue in training this week.
Speaking on Wednesday, Zola said: "We have been working on not defending too deep and we did some things on that. We are going to try to do more on Friday.
"I have always been told that when you have a problem, it is solved when you realise you have a problem. We are aware of it and we are working on it, and will carry on doing so.
"It is not just down to us though, it is also a mentality. The tendency in this country when you want to defend safely, is to defend in your own box. It is a difficult thing to change but we are going to get there.
"It is a natural thing to do but the players know we need to improve and we have been working on some exercises."
Zola expects midfielder Almen Abdi to be fit for the Leicester clash after his back injury but whilst Geoffrey Mujangi Bia is returning to full fitness, he is not match sharp.
Nyron Nosworthy, Prince Buaben, John Eustace and Neuton have all been ruled out.
- Watford will travel to St Albans City for a Herts Senior Cup tie on Tuesday, December 4, kick-off 7.45pm. The Hornets will find out who they will face in the FA Youth Cup tomorrow.

Hoorah, personally I think that cost cost us points at Blackburn.
I think Zola is a lovely guy a genuine guy and was a great player. But he is showing his inexperience now and some of the things he comes out in public to say should be kept in his office. He has been put in a very difficult situation with the number of players he has, but the results on the pitch will say everything. We are now in November and I still don't think he knows what his best side is?
I don't go with this theory that you need to 'rest' players. Every player wants to play every game and they all should be able to cope with 3 games in a week. The important thing is for him to get a settled side so that they can grow together. Injuries and suspensions will provide other squad members with an opportunity and the they have to take it. It is called competition for places and drives players to keep tehir place.
Continuity is needed and I would like to see a settled back 5 (with g/k) because that would settle the team and make us more solid for a good attacking base. But I fear he is a tinkerer.
We will see and just my opinion before anyone comes off to slag me off.

Zola is a tinkerer - due to suspensions, internationals, injuries & loss of form this will happen as it does at any other football club - formation can be dictated by the strength of opposition and also passages of play - he will rightly change things when he sees fit - he's the Manager and its his job. You are right that he is inexperienced and still learning his trade and he will also make mistakes. I do it most days in my own job!
Add to those facts that he also has so many different players at his disposal that he is also yet to fully get to know then i think early doors tinkering is inevitable.
My opinion is that the Watford Observer are very good at editing sentences and printing headlines which they feel will lead to further attacks upon GFZ. I might be wrong (& hope that I am) but what the hell was all the SD headlines earlier this week - certainly got me thinking!!! Is it just that GFZ does not make them a cappuccino during interviews? I can't put my finger on it but I get the impression they are not fully behind the project.
Reading between the lines on how very little dialogue is actually on display within the article I would hope it means more regular featuring of Geijo - who in my opinion will be our top goalscorer this season (let's hope he stays fit!)

Some of these people have always only come to Watford because they have nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon and it gives them something to moan about. This is what 'football' represents to them - the same people who do not sing at games and the same people who moan about trivial things such as no hot water! However, they are usually experts of the game.
This is in no way a scathing attack on fellow fans but more a plea for the above mentioned criteria not turn up at the next forum! You have not only embarrassed yourselves tonight but also everyone else connected to the club!

GZ: "This club is considered as being one of the clubs which will become one of the leading clubs for the company . They are planning to make Watford one of, if not, the top team. We have a lot of loan players at the moment but if we believe they are good enough they will stay at Watford. I`m here not because I want to spend my life in the Championship, but because I am an ambitious manager and I want to play at higher levels. That`s where we are heading to. I believe that the Pozzo family have no interest in Watford playing in the Championship for a long time."
SD: "These are players that passionately chose to come to Watford. The players that came, it was their choice, they wanted to be here. If they are good enough and they want to be here we have the option on all of them. All of the players we want to stay will stay."
SD: "The accounts will be published towards the end of November. I don`t really want to comment on them in any detail. The debt we were aware of; the debt we are managing. Our aim is to implement a business plan which will make the club self-sustainable as quickly as possible. We are reducing the debt and we are getting towards a position where we are breaking even."
SD: "They will be using it this year and that will be it. No-one will be using the pitch other than Gianfranco."
SD: "I think it`s achievable quite quickly. It`s a combination of getting the price point right and that we`re not pricing people out of games. The season ticket will always be the cheapest way of coming to watch us. Ultimately we need to be an attractive proposition to come and watch."
SD: "What I`d like to do next season is move the family stand potentially to the Lower Rous and look at introducing some unreserved seating; some cash turnstiles."
GZ: "Working with 29/30 players you can get all of them training. Training is only one part of it, if you can`t get a game, something is missing. SD: "The academy is central to our future & our development. We haven`t downgraded, we never had category one. What we had was Harefield. To actually achieve category one, which is essentially a certificate from the Premier League, there were huge costs of £2m. Essentially we couldn`t afford that. If in the future we`re in a position to go to category one we can always apply for it. We`re doing exactly what we`ve always done. I think the academy is in safe hands."
SD: "The priority is the South West corner. Let`s get 15,000 fans every week then we`ll worry about the East Stand."
"Premier League status would have an impact as attendances would increase. Timescale? There is no timescale.'
SD: "Very, very simply, Gino`s philosophy is to take clubs with a strong community heart but haven`t quite achieved their potential yet. It`s a sore point but the London geography was a big part of it. Ironically the East Stand was a real positive as it was an obvious way the club could improve."
SD: "It doesn`t matter what press we`re getting, we`re now getting coverage in a major national newspaper. We`re being noticed, that`s no bad thing."
SD: "Within reason I`m prepared to consider everything in order to get the attendances back."
GZ: "We fight every time!"
GN: "We trust each other a lot. We have the same idea of football. He manages the team, he`s in charge of football, the team, the squad. I look after the contracts, everything outside of the pitch, I look after the scouts, I try to identify talent. We have the same ideas about football, the style."
GZ: "Managers in this country are in charge of everything. That goes for choosing the kitman, the masseurs, the players. That`s a huge job - you can`t do everything. Gian Luca knows what type of players I need & he provides me with more choice."
SD: "I am a far better CEO now than I was in the past. Provided you don`t make the same mistakes twice you`re a better person for it. All we can promise is we can give everything to this football club & we are better individuals for our past."
SD: "This football club stands on its own and is not a feeder club to Udinese. It`s a family club rooted in the community. We want to be successful and we want to be ambitious but never we`ll never lose sight of our values."
"If we could have our time again we wouldn`t have bought so many loan players in at the last minute."
SD: "It was just simply mechanics and finances and getting them here quickly."

Second-half: Focussing on on-pitch matters -
GZ: "It can be good, it can be bad. To be honest, the tendency is that you use Twitter and you think you`re talking to your friends when actually you`re not. Unfortunately there are people on Twitter who use those sentences for different purposes. For players it can be risky. We need to keep an eye on that and we just need to make sure everyone is sensible when using those news ways to communicate. We as a Club keep an eye on Twitter, Tweets - is that we call them?"
GZ: "It was always in my mind to have a couple of systems to play. I played three at the back in a couple of games - one was a friendly, out of the blue I played three at the back. I like the system, I`ve seen it played before and I thought it was a very good system. Whether I`m going to keep playing this system, I don`t know. Sometimes you have to give space to instinct and I never suffocated my instinct as a player and I won`t do it as a manager. Whatever system we play, it doesn`t change our philosophy."
JE: "The foreign players and the loan players coming in we`ve made them feel at home. It doesn`t matter who comes in and who goes out we`ll stick together. I think we`ve got to start learning Italian and Spanish. The gaffer`s got the lads learning English who can`t speak English having lessons every day. It`s a big project isn`t it? We`re starting this season and the club has to stick together through thick and thin."
"I think we`ll have to have a British versus foreign league "
GZ: One reason is that a lot of players that came over here didn`t do pre-season with us. Another reason is that last season they didn`t play maybe 10 games. The players that come from abroad, they really struggle to find their rhythm at the beginning."
GN: "The Pozzo family did an unbelievable job with the scouting network. They discovered so many players it`s unbelievable. Our job will be to try to scout young talent all over England. If we have the asset that we can use the Udinese connection, why not? We`ll try to discover the best talent in advance to bring here and bring the English philosophy. Honestly, the job that they did is amongst the best in the world.
GZ: "Success this season would be to improve the position we achieved last year. We are ambitious but know this year we have many players that just come in and don`t know the league. We don`t want short-term victories. We`ve played some very good teams and the best from us is to come yet. We have to be patient, we have to keep it on the carpet as they say in this country."
GZ: "That`s vital to be honest . I re-call happy days when I was at Chelsea despite having so many different nationalities. The core of the team was English - Denise Wise, Steve Clarke. In this team the core remains the same."
GN: "I would like to have this problem!"
GN: 'Fernando has asked me to stay already.'
GZ: "I don`t think anyone can doubt that he`s been a big asset. Sometimes I should rest him, because he`s 35, but he doesn`t look like 35 so at the moment I`m sticking with him."
GZ: "What is incredible about him is his attitude. I wish I could have 20 players with his attitude. After Bolton he played a good game; scored an unbelievable goal, and I dropped him because I needed to play a different type of player. He gives everything, he`s always positive and he never said a word about being dropped."
JE: "All the young lads look up to him. Maybe from the outside looking in he might not be the prettiest on the eye, but he`ll always give 100 per cent for his team and his team mates. As you say he`s a Watford legend. He`s an ambassador for the club and good for the younger lads to look up to."
JE: "The circumstances a few years ago, I had to defer a bit of money to play. I had to do it, I wanted to play games. I had something to prove with the season before. I was given the option and I took it and I`m very glad I did. I`ve really enjoyed it and one of the best moves I made really."
GN: "John will be with us until the end of the season for sure. We can`t promise anything, but he`s a wonderful boy and his attitude is fantastic. We have a lot of players whose contracts are ending at the end of the season."
SD: "We had to employ somebody at West Ham to tell him when the fans were chanting his name!"
GZ: "I have to improve on many things as a manager.'

With the pro Zolas always willing to massage the egos of those in agreement. with them.
However moving on, it seems in the last few years those teams that have done well, have been managed both well on and off the field and have generally played with creative players down the flanks and a good striker or two, with solid midfields, defence and an in form keeper.
It appears we have cracked the management off the field (fingers crossed) our novice manager has been given a set of enormous problems (a squad that is too big) which has to date given him problems working out which is his best starting eleven (subject to injuries, lack of fitness etc) but hopefully he is getting their BUT does he have the players to take us up. Sean Murray seems to have gone backwards and our strike force is simply not doing the business and can we rely on loan players or youngsters to provide those goals. Last year Reading brought in Jason Roberts and he transformed their results can we find such a player and will the board support such a purchase?. in the meantime let GFZ sort the existing squad and if he really thinks a midweek game along with the weekend games puts the players under too much strain heaven help us!

a "interesting"? It's just irritating. People who support Zola are not massaging anyones ego- that is an insulting statement. People who are behind Zola - the vast majority - are discerning people glad to have a football legend who wants to give us quality. It's called supporting your club.

To answer above :
Zola is just a lovely bloke, he doesn't need anyone rubbing his ego, he doesn't have one ! He is 100% genuine, is not here for the money or ego, he wants to manage Watford in the Premiership and EUROPE !
Murray is not in the team because he gained a liking for beer and the good life since end of last season and got fat and unfit He is working to correct that now.
Mrs B (woman at the end of forum) is a dedicated fan home and away, however lives in the past, was brought up on hoof ball, and hasn't transitioned to the new style yet as she is set in her ways. Anyone that sits within 20metres of her at a match has my sympathy, maybe she could have her own box at a match, padded with soundproof windows, however a fan she is and long standing, so patience and ear plugs until she gets the new religion in her bloodstream
Dyche has gone : END OF
Martin Taylor has gone : END OF
Good luck to them both, if they were offered back here tomorrow I say NO THANKS, we've moved on
Hot Water : embarrassing question
Clapping Fans : Zola doesn't have an ego, most managers clap fans ONLY to get clapped back to rub their own ego, Zola has 9000 things on his mind, he is 100% into the game, he is not thinking (let's get an ego rub). Now he will be worrying about waving, so expect a lap of honour after each match, and a few keepy uppys
Project / Plan / Goal / Objective / Ambition / Directive / Target = all means same thing, don't get hung up on a word
The panel handled the questions very well, this is the MOST EXCITING TIME for WATFORD since GT & SEJ took over and the early eighties !
Negativity can only hold us back, sucks life out of people, LET'S BE POSITIVE ONE AND ALL, UNITY IS POWERFUL !!!

a "interesting"? It's just irritating. People who support Zola are not massaging anyones ego- that is an insulting statement. People who are behind Zola - the vast majority - are discerning people glad to have a football legend who wants to give us quality. It's called supporting your club.
The guy who lambasted GFZ thought he was Paul Merton. Clapping only Eustace and references to Dyche.
Yes I'm glad he shuddered at some of the stares he got and wish he would take his non supportive attitude elsewhere.
That panel was as honest and humble as you'd wish for. No false promises, a plan ( the semantics of what's its called is irrelevant) and a vision.
They have achieved more innovations in their few months than we've seen for well over 34 years.
As for Chris the Vics stupid aside. We are guilty of supporting the club. It is not interesting that people hankering for a inglorious past and dire football are embarrassing those who give our support whole heartedly.
The heartening thing is the majority are on board and this club will progress.

GZ always comes across very well, I was impressed how knowledgeable SD ( no ,not the former manager) was on all Watford affairs and encouraged by his logical and sensible answers.
Good news about the SW corner, work starting soon to be completed by June.
Great news regarding pay on the day turnstyles at the Vicarage Road end.
Thought it genius to move familly area to lower Rous and have the more vocal fans next to away fans .
This will generate a proper a atmosphere at that end.
Who remembers 'the bogside boys' of the early 80s.
Apart from a couple of w•••••s who like the sound of their own voices (who was the idiot that opposed the term 'project' being used?,what a waste forum time) it was an enjoyable and fruitful couple of hours and left me very feeling very positive about the future.

When I asked my question I was really impressed how GFZ gave a thoughtful, considered answer and looked at me throughout his response, this guy is genuine and really wants success. As he says, he does not want to be hanging around in the Championship for too long.
Had my photo taken with him at the end and never been so honoured since meeting the great GT.
Lots of encouraging messages came out of last night despite the ridiculous few...the plumber looking for business, the lady who was so rude to GFZ saying that passing it through the keeper is boring to the old boy who started reminising of his childhood memories, you could see Jon Marks indicating to his colleagues to get the mic off him, lol.
Speaking with somebody who will remain nameless but with great insider knowledge at the end, said that we will never know just how bad things were before the takeover, we would have gone into admin. for sure. He only knows a small part of what really went on, and that was fightening.
We should not only be excited by this journey that we are fortunate to be on, but so grateful to the Pozzo's for saving our beloved club which is such a big part of so many of our lives.

I want to celebrate our union with Udinese and Granada, I would like a weekly item on both clubs on the official Watford website , Udineseblog covers our news daily!
Also we should stock Udinese kit in the Hornet shop, Bo77ox I'm on a roll, next year , we as fans should pertition the club to have Udinese kit as our away colours , most people think we are Udinese B anyway, so lets give them the finger and flout it!
Coming from the watford fans , not the club itself won't be seen as assimilation !

That woman, God it can only be the change of life that's affecting her moods so badly, she looks more pugnacious than me, needs to take a hike. That along with the idiot before her that couldn't accept Zola saying he didn't ignore the fans but so wrapped up in the game were candidates for idiots of the evening, not forgetting our antiquated old nemesis Bushey Wails. ( when I was a boy, 129 years ago, we used to kick a pigskin around) harping on to Zola about Dyches dismissal (WTF!)
Anyway onwards and upwards, hopefully the great man does his best to put the negative Nellies to the back of his mind where they deserve to be.

I thought that it was a really good forum with some good questions and answers. The woman who had a moan near the end is the same one who stands up in the Rookery and yells "Get it up there" for most of the game. I think that she's Aidy Boothroyds Mum! She obviously doesn't fully understand what the team is trying to do.

Started by a guy called Barry O'Shea from Hemel along with a handful of others. This was about the end of Mike Keen era.
As the GT area took hold, the Vic Rd replaced the Rookery as the main stomping ground of the old boot boys and a few pitched battles took place, before the club started moving the away fans into the Rookery.
There you have it. BTW I loved Barry Endean, my first idol in a yellow shirt.

What does annoy me is the dismissal of any criticism aimed at him or the other management of the club. Hs make mistakes, he certainly repeats the mistake of picking Yeates and whilst he was a brilliant footballer he is still learning as a manager and to say that people who make such points dont support the club is ridiculous.
There has to be a genuine concern about the lack of fitness of the squad, the indiscipline and remember three red cards were not appealed against albeit the length of punishment for one of those three were appealed against and the lack of a quality striker amongst our very large squad is a problem.
however I accept that along with most others this is a work in progress and hopefully the good times are ahead, but always bear in mind despite two promotions to the premiership, since Gt left the first time those who have been sceptical have generally been proven 100% correct.

As for where I come from, I come from them sprawling council estates, I drop my aitches, I have tattoos and my knuckles drag the ground. In sure that confirms your picture you already have.
By the way we like to think of it as a meeting of minds, where even though we all see differently we are supporting our club.
