Watford boss Gianfranco Zola is delighted with the Hornets' free-scoring form but has warned his players it would be a "big mistake" to get carried away too soon.

The Hornets go into the match against Barnsley this Saturday unbeaten in six matches and just two points outside the playoff spots.

But Zola downplayed Watford's surge up the table and insists his team still have work to do before they fulfil their potential.

He said: "There's a long way to go. I don't want to be in the playoff positions now, I would love to be in those positions at the end of this year.

"Right now the position we are in is not important, it's important that we keep progressing. The team has been getting better and better in the last few games and we just need to carry on because I don't think as a team we have reached our full potential.

"It would be a big mistake if we thought we've learned everything - it would be a big mistake - so we need to maintain our attitude and we need to keep improving."

Watford's recent form has seen them score 14 goals in four matches and Zola expressed his delight that the club's attacking philosophy is starting to bear fruit.

He saod: "We have always said we are trying to be an offensive team so we want to try to score as many goals as possible - that's what we're trying to do here.

"It's not down to one or two players, the whole team is trying to be more offensive - the results are going well, we're very pleased about that and we want it to carry on."

Almen Abdi, Sergio Neuton and Prince Buaben all returned to training this week but are not yet match fit and are unlikely to feature against Barnsley.

Zola said: "Abdi is still training on his own so I don't think he will be available for this weekend. Buaben and Neuton are back in training with everybody else but I'm not sure they're going to be match-fit for the game."

Saturday will also come too soon for Ikechi Anya and Jonathan Bond while John Eustace, Nyron Nosworthy and Lloyd Doyley remain sidelined.

Kick off at Vicarage Road is at 3pm.
