Watford are set to be without Fitz Hall, Jonathan Hogg, Tommie Hoban and Neuton against Hudderfield Town

Gianfranco Zola has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Watford’s match against Huddersfield Town at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets go into the contest on the back of an important 2-1 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough.

Fitz Hall, Jonathan Hogg, Tommie Hoban and Neuton all missed the victory at the Riverside due to injury.

Zola expects to be without defenders Hall, Hoban and Neuton and when asked about Hogg on Thursday, the Hornets boss said: "I don’t think he’ll be able to play but we will see. We have to make a decision Friday but it’s not looking positive."

Zola said Hoban and Hall should be back next week and added there were no fresh injuries.

Guess he forgot to mention Adam Thompson, another defender (who really should have been recalled before getting a shoulder injury).

The Not-so-enlightened one says...

Hmmm, Thompson was loaned out on 4th Jan, played on 5th, injured on 6th or 7th - exactly when should we have recalled him? 2 days after we loaned him out?

We coped very well last week, we'll just have to carry on with the same players. No probs......lets hope we don't do what we did against Charlton. Still annoyed about that.

Agreed, we looked very good defensively. Noseworthy had a blinder, though Doyley took his eye off the ball for their late goal.

I think we may see just one change: Eustace in for Battochio. We need a ball winner at home when teams sit back against us. Battochio is better when he is afforded more space. No need to change the back 3 they were awesome at Boro

Na it was just a perfect cross, 9 times out of ten it wouldn't have found the man.
Sure we should play the same back three as last week but what about the back-up?

Battachio was utter class, someone said he turned over ball, no mistaken identity, Chabolah lost it five times midfield.
Midfield is pivotal to fluid movement. Having said that what a great pass from Eustace to Vydra. Whatever your opinion, aren't we blessed with all this talent!

It's good that Doyley and Nosworthy get another game as it gives them the chance to make Zola think hard about selection when Hall and Hoban are back!
This is the importance of having a good squad that are happy to work hard to impress! It wasn't long ago that if we had our two best centre backs injured we would be in a right mess! Thank god those days are behind us!
I can't see Zola changing it to much, yes maybe Eustace may start and maybe one or two changes to the bench but that's it!
We need to win tomorrow and we have by far the better team on paper so I really hope we bag the 3 points!
2-0 win for me!

Stoney77 says...
7:14pm Thu 17 Jan 13

I agree Battochio is class but I see him as a replacement for Abdi or Chalobah when we are at home. I think Eustace is needed for a bit of steel and grit with 2 from NC, AA, and CB either side of him spraying the pin point passes. But yes, it's awesome to have pretty much 22 players (injuries aside) who are all worthy of a starting berth. COYH

Nando must be careful as this lot will kick him all day long..dont agree with return of Eustace as for me now he is a bit part player..Battochio is defo the future and is pure class..he also played a pretty good ball to vydra at boro. Anyway no chance of game going ahead as pitch will be ok but the council wont salt roads and paths around the ground and elf and safty wont be having it !!!!!!

Play our best 11, and Vydra is one of our best 11.

Troy and Vydra up top for me! Forestieri to come on either to liven things up if all square or if game is won with half an hour to go!

I have a feeling that Cris Battochio will be signing very soon... Doesn't he house share with FF? They seem very good friends.. (not in that way...) it makes sense and would help them both settle.
What a future we are building...
Is it right to mention a certain Mr Boothroyd as a key instigator in our brilliant youth system? With the acquisitions we are signing.. The future is looking very bright

Mate read tales from the Vic, Betty did more harm than good, and the worse football I ever witnessed. Anyone who should get credit for the youth set up is Tom Walley. Look at his production line.

Grape's a bit hung over and carrying a knock after being repeatedly stamped on by a Frenchman.
Kiwi's on the bench as he keeps aiming over the bar claiming a 'conversion'.
Orange keeps annoying Apple but they're putting their differences aside for this game.
Pineapple's feeling a bit prickly but I'm sure he can last 60 minutes.

Not that I want to be an apologist for Boothroyd, but the football we played in our promotion year was far from dull. We had King and Young on fire, and in many of those games we teams people off the pitch. Unfortunately, what followed was Boothroyd thought he was Churchill, Genghis Khan and Peter Jones all rolled into one, and his ego expanded to fill the Watford Gap. His subsequent managerial history is proof that he only managed one really great year... it just happened to be his first. Plus he inherited some talent that performed beyoned expectations, while getting some good stuff out of random pros and difficult characters.

Key instigators for Harefield were Haig Oundjian, Graham Simpson and I'm guessing Ray Lewington. Sure Aidy was manager when it opened and I think he took far too many plaudits for our academy's success ... although to be fair, he certainly brought the best out of Ashley Young.
