Gianfranco Zola praised Watford’s strike partnership of Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra after the duo scored all three goals during the Hornets’ 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

“They combine very well, tThey really have an excellent understanding,” Zola said. “When you see the first two goals, it shows they work for each other and they display a very good sign of understanding.”

Vydra has now scored ten goals in his last five league starts and when Zola was asked about his display, he replied: “I am delighted with his performance. I also thought Troy Deeney was exceptional today again.

“The point is that whilst the two strikers have been fantastic in front of the goal, I think from the manager’s point of view they have been even better in the way they work for the team; helping all the time.

“If you see their movements, they are always dropping into midfield to make it difficult for the opposition to find spaces. That makes a difference for the team.”

On Watford’s performance as a whole, Zola added: “It looked very good to me too. It was a tough game. I think you look at the result and might have thought it was easy but it wasn’t.

“What made a difference was the attitude and the performances of my players today. It was a top performance. It won’t be easy for anybody to come here and win the way we did today.”
