Watford striker Matej Vydra has come third in the Czech Republic Football Association’s ‘Czech Talent of the Year’ award 2012.

The 20 year-old striker, on-loan from Udinese, finished behind Chelsea’s young defender Tomas Kalas – currently on-loan at Vitesse, and runner-up Martin Pospisil.

Vydra has enjoyed something of a breakthrough in 2012, excelling on-loan at Vicarage Road with 19 goals from 17 league starts for the Hornets and also making his full debut for the senior Czech Republic side against Denmark in August.

The Chotebor-born forward had previously endured a tough start to 2012 as injury whilst on-loan at Belgian club FC Brugge had ruined his time with the club.

Previous winners of the award include Petr Cech, Milan Baros and Tomas Rosicky.
