Vydra nominated for Championsip award
Watford striker Matej Vydra is nominated for the Championship's Player of the Month award for January.
The talented 20-year-old scored six goals last month with three consecutive doubles coming in Watford victories against Middlesborough, Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest.
The Czech striker scored in every league game he started and Gianfranco Zola’s men lost the other two matches in which he was a substitute, against Charlton Athletic and Bristol City.
Burnley defender Jason Shackell and Leicester City striker Chris Wood are the other nominees for the award which recognises the standout performer in the Championship every month.
The Player of the Month panel is comprised of npower Partnerships and Sponsorships Manager Katy Thomas, former Wolves striker and current Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and the Football League’s head of communications John Nagle.
The winner of the award will be announced at around 9am on Sky Sports tomorrow (Friday) morning.
Meanwhile former Watford boss Sean Dyche is up for January's Manager of the Month award in the Championship for steering Burnley to three league wins from four.
Dyche faces competition from Leicester City’s manager Nigel Pearson and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Gus Poyet for the accolade.

According to the Telegraph today there is now going to be a vote at the FL AGM in the summer to close the "loophole" that allowed us to field seven(?) loan players last Friday. I do wish these so called journalists can get their facts correct before writing these comments.

Pete: Richard Keys has just mentioned it on talkshite. Well, the football league should also allow the practice of selling players yet keeping them for the remainder of the season, shouldn't they Mr Holloway? Anyway, hopefully we'll have either signed them and not give a toss, or be promoted and not give a toss. The Watford bashing is all getting a bit tiresome right now.

Now the Hollowhead saga. The FA & FL rules are made not on FAIR play, but what serves the greedy top clubs. They ensure the outcome serves their greed.
That another club legitimately plays by those rules (not one of those greedy self interest voting group) is tough t1tty.
Clubs can get loans as easy as buying a scratchcard so I cannot see what the beef (horse) is about.

Well done Matej , think you will get this one. How about a hat trick on Saturday ? its about time you got your finger out buddy.
And special well done to GFZ for once again tactically making sure you never win the dreaded M O M award ! give it to Dychey we must have some sort of sell on clause where they have to give us some dough when Seany scoops awards and becomes England manager.

Finished with 4 on the pitch - Cassetti, Pudil, Abdi, Battocchio.
Geijo wasn't used - so only 6.

In terms of loans. We'll just pay 20p for them moving forward.
The irrelevancy as to which club keeps the contracts in which safe is often missed.
