Watford have said the final capacity for the new East Stand remains undecided after initial plans indicated it would house 2,600 supporters.

Plans for the structure were uploaded to a planning website this week but the club have reiterated the proposals are changing all the time and will continue to do so during the coming months.

Glyn Evans, Watford's operations director, said: "There are a number of ongoing conversations with regards to specific details within the stand which could affect its final seating capacity – such as the final size of the technical area and the changing rooms."

He added: "Initial plans have been submitted into the public domain to acquire the necessary approvals of the general structure, however the final seating capacity will not be decided until much further into the actual build when final design decisions are made."

The East Stand will be a multi-million pound development which will have concrete foundations and rows with steel framework.

A large section of the stand, which starts at the north end of the structure and ends at the players' tunnel, should be open by early next year with the whole structure fully operational in Spring.

Temporary dug-outs have already been installed and the demolition work gathered pace during the international break.

The retaining walls and boundary walls will be retained according to the initial proposals submitted.

The club have stressed that these plans could change significantly during the building process.

For example the plans submitted to the council are for a 2,600-seater stand but the club have ordered more than 3,000 because there is scope to add more.

One example of an expected alteration is that there were no press seats on the proposal but the club still plan to house the media in the new structure.

Even the number of turnstiles, which is currently pencilled in as five, may change.

Entrance to the ground will be via turnstiles on Occupation Road which will see the current, unused, turnstile blocks reinstated.

The steel staircases will be prefabricated and descend down to the concourse area, where the new facilities such as food kiosks and toilets will be housed in modular units underneath the seated area.

Watford Observer:

Supporters are expected to access their seats from pitch side via prefabricated steel staircases.

The first row of seats is likely to be more than one metre above pitch level. The initial plans suggest the first row at the north end of the stand will be 1.29m above pitch level with it rising to 1.9m at the south end.

The stand will only be 17 rows high but Watford have opted for a constant rise of 50cm per row, which the club claim will offer "high quality non-restricted sightlines to all spectators".

The additional space at the front of the stand will be used to house disabled supporters, who will enter the ground at the same south-east entrance as those who sit in the Rookery End.

Watford Observer:

The roof will be gunmetal grey and made from cladding of 'single-skin trapezoidal sheeting'. The trims and flashing are also the same colour but the plans stated that could change.

There was also an image of the changing room facilities which will be a modular unit. It included not only the changing rooms for both teams and the officials but also a physio room, medical room, drugs room and manager's office.

The initial plans submitted can be seen via the attached links above.
