Saturday, February 10, 1973

Watford were demolished by Ken Furphy's Blackburn Rovers side at Vicarage Road, a Pat Morrissey penalty the Hornets' only solace from a 3-1 defeat.

Having been relegated from the second divison the previous season Watford would finish 19th whilst Rovers would miss promotion by two points.
