Once week - and a home fixture to Tranmere - since a memorable win at Peterborough, the Hornets travelled to Oakwell on a wet Tuesday night for a rearranged fixture sitting one place outside the relegation zone.
A largely unmemorable game was decided in the closing minutes; receiving the ball on the halfway line on the break, Paul Furlong dragged his marker Gerry Taggart half the length of the pitch before finishing in front of an ecstatic, if sparsely populated, away terrace.
The Hornets were to drop only two points in their remaining four games to escape relegation.
