Gillingham were the visitors to Vicarage Road in the final game of the 2001/02 season.
The game was to be both the last in charge for manager Gianluca Vialli, and the last first-team appearance of Nigel Gibbs' prodigious Watford career.
The long-serving full-back was applauded onto the pitch by both sets of players, including visiting manager Andy Hessenthaler, for an eight-minute cameo that saw him extend his own record by appearing in a league game in 18 different seasons for the club.
In scoring the most memorable goal of a 3-2 defeat, Anthony McNamee became the 19th player to score a league goal for the club that season, also a new record.
