Watford took on Manchester United at Vicarage Road in their last home game of the 1984/85 season.
United were sitting second in the table - Everton had already secured the title - and were due to play the new champions in the FA Cup final the following weekend.
United's preparation was not ideal, as a brace for Nigel Callaghan plus goals for Colin West, Luther Blissett and Kenny Jackett saw them well beaten before Kevin Moran's injury-time consolation.
The Hornets were ending the campaign with a flourish having won by the same 5-1 scoreline at White Hart Lane two days earlier, but a sour footnote was provided by the fractured skull sustained by Blissett in a collision with United keeper Gary Bailey.
