Worrell Sterling was born in Bethnal Green.
A disciplined understudy to his more exalted contemporaries Nigel Callaghan and John Barnes, Sterling nonetheless clocked up more than 120 outings for the club over a five-year period.
His Vicarage Road career stalled however, and he failed to make an appearance for the club following the arrival of Neil Redfearn. Within a few months he joined Peterborough United and subsequently played for Bristol Rovers and Lincoln City.
