England played West Germany in a friendly tournament fixture in the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
In coming on for Gary Lineker, Watford's John Barnes won his 22nd international cap and in so doing broke Gerry Armstrong's club record.
Barnes currently shares this record with Welshman Kenny Jackett; both won 31 caps for their country whilst on the books at Vicarage Road.
England won this game 3-0 with controversial future Watford flop Kerry Dixon scoring twice.
